Does anyone remember something happening in the Pacific, from, Oh...roughly late fall 1941 to mid-summer 1945? Odd names and phrases come to mind: Day of Infamy, I shall return, awaken a sleeping giant, Land of the Rising Sun, Divine Wind, Zeke, Corsair, Wildcat, Flying Tiger, Island hopping, Yamamoto, Val, Tony, Betty, Nimitz, Midway, Leyte Gulf,etc...you know, random, disconnected stuff like that.

All these abstrtact, symbolic phrases that maybe don't carry any real meaning at all to anyone but myself.

I vaguely recall hearing of events possibly happening over there...in any event, it might be fun to try to recreate some of those battles that might have happened, or, maybe it's just all in my head.

I dunno, just a thought....

Hmm, I seem to recall a snapshot last night entitled Last Day at Lexington.  There were some planes involved as this is a flight sim type of game.  Wildcat, Zero-sen, Val, Dauntless, and even the TBM pretending to be a Kate.  Hmm, the post in the SE Annoucements forum and on the calendar even gave a dates that this recreation happened.  May 7-8th 1942.  The Battle of Coral Sea.

A couple of tours ago in the CT the Solomons terrain was up.  The previous Friday TOD was Coral Sea and the Slot.  Next week's snapshot is Torpedo 8, which is part of the Battle of Midway.

The options for PTO action are there and have been there.  I personally have run two PTO Friday night TODs (all you have to do to fly in a TOD is get permission from a squad prior to the event and join their squad for the night.)  I guarantee you the TOD, Snapshots, and Scenarios will give you a more historical feel than the Combat Theater (something about structure and missions), tho the CT itself does a fine job with the historic matchups if that's all you're after.

Yes, I have flown TOD, and I am with MAG-33, and the snapshots are fun, although I would like to see a few more setups in the CT as time moves on. I enjoy the CT very much so please dont take this thread as a flame. It's not,  not at all.

The squad I am in is a USN squad, and the occurances are very rare that we are able to fly planes we specialize in. I'm only speaking for myself, and not for the squad, but personally, it would be nice to see more CV based ops in the CT.

Either way, I'm there every Tuesday and Thursday, regardless of the setup

Keep up the good work with the snapshots BTW

We have done several PTO set up's in the CT, a big problem we curently have is that HTC has yet to realy model enough Japanese planes to do it right.

I do like the variety of the ct, but why cant we do an early war f4fs, p40bs and sbds vs zeros and vals?  Kind of a day after pearl type scenario.  Make it carrier based (besides the p40b).  Oh wait, dont do that, the zeros under their current model would eat us alive.

Someday I would like to fly the f6f and f4u again.  I am now part of a f4u wing in my squad, and I have not been able to fly one since that change occured!

I am still looking forward to the 1944 eto setup coming up though.

Where you at in minnesota gainsie?  I grew up in Northfield.

Erg.
One of you guys has got to show me where the uber button is on that A6M2, no matter what I do I can't find it!!!!!!
Wish to heck I could learn to be good in the M2. Wonder if I could sneak my A6m5 in with the IJN grey paint job and a blue diagonal stripe??:D
I hope the next PTO setup is a midwar USN one as well.
Although facing VF-27, and 880 FAA in their signature rides, always makes for a tough week. We are over due for a mid war USN PTO set-up.

nifty   that snapshot was a total blast

I was incharge of the cover of our group of "kates"  me,moloch, and frogman were escorting 10 kates we were spotted by a group of f4f,s  and later some sbd's joined they dove in on the kates and were ripping them to shereds when we entered the malee there were about 10-12 of them and only 3 of us plus the remaining kates.

for about 5-8 minutes was all it took for for us to be totaly disamated just for a second I though we might hold em off we downed 7 of them 4 of them quickly I think the sbd's spoiled the party for us

next week will be "torpeado 8" thats an early war pacific battle
this time we will see if the usn can get there tbm's to target revenge will be sweet is all I got to say.:D
