You guys are meanies

I'm in a bit of a slump nowadays flying wise, and have been for two weeks.

And, just about every enemy I know has taken the opportunity to shoot me down.

That's not very nice.

This community sucks.

And an1 need a guner?

<trying desperately to get outta the slump>

Yep, everybody has times when nothing seems to work. I had my first in WB MA and it lasted two weeks. Before it I had 2/1 KD, after it 1/2... No matter what I flew I did stink.

It is vicios cycle. You notice you are doing badly and you concentrate more. You make mistakes because of pressure and you feel desperate and start to make desperate moves which gets you killed.

After one succesful sortie you gain your confidence and are back to maginificent yourself.

Santa reckons I'm an easy-mode flying dweeb (aka La-7 flyer  ), but that aside, slumps happen alot to me.

I usually do something different, like concentrate on Jaboing with the Tiffie or buffing.

BTW, Santa - I will finish ahead of you in the 'attack' ranks. May god be my witness.

Fear not, Santa.  Slumps are a necessary part of becoming One with the Dark Side.

You cannot be a great fighter pilot without a serious attitude.   This attitude is that YOU are the greatest pilot who ever lived, period, and everybody else is cannonfodder.  When this attitude conflicts with reality, when nmes not only fail to acknowledge your superiority but come up to contest it, and even have the temerity to shoot you down as well, then it's only because YOU made a mistake.

Mistakes are intolerable because YOU are supposed always to be perfect.  And so your rage, frustration, and Hate grow, all directed inwards to purge yourself of error.  But because there are so many things to think about, it's impossible not to make mistakes if you have to think about them.

Fortunately, each mistake builds your Hate.  With enough Hate wrapped around your bitter soul, you break through a psychic barrier and into the Dark Side.  Suddenly, you no longer have to think about all the ACM arcana, it's all automatic.  You have become One with the Dark Side and no longer make mistakes.  And you still have your Hate.  It's now a hard ball of icy fire in your mailed fist, which you can now weild to smash your nmes.

Give in to your Hate.  Here is your FW.  Take it.  Strrrrike me down with it.  I am low E.  Soon, you will be One with the Dark Side.  Muhahahahahaha!!!!

How's this for a slump- I can routinely attain the six of many opponents, only to find that at even D.3 or under I cannot kill them. You would think that a half-second burst would be all you need, right? Wrong. The burst has to connect. I find that I cannot even seem to hit a B-17. Is that slump enough?

When do you know you are in a slump?

Well,..when you get a kill and about a dozen or so of your country mates get on the radio and shout "Skuzzy!  You got a kill!?".

Never mind the time they take to type it in the buffer, nor the exciting way they express themselves, nor the "wtg" attitude in the buffer.  Bottmline,...the fact they noticed you got a kill and was surprised by it, should tell ya something.

Now, if you are in that situation,...you are definately in a slump,..otherwise,...drink some more beer and have fun.

Oh, the last time I heard this, was in a goon and got a 51D kill.

Ussually for me when I get in a slump I stay there until I manage to remember WHY I'm here in the first place.

A: I started flying AH because it's fun.
B: Flying with my squad mates makes it even more fun! <S> Dogs
C: I'm still here because I enjoy the challenge. There are some VERY good sticks here, and I get a big thrill every time I manage to take one down.

Soon as I forget about the competion, and go back to flying because I enjoy it, the slump goes away.  My last one only lasted half a day.

Atitude is everything! The harder you try the worse you do.

When I get into a slump...
I get back into a C-Hog.
The slump will soon be over in that monster!

Actually, I agree.
Not worrying or letting yourself get mad makes you better.
Fly to have fun, and there is no such thing as a slump.

If that doesn't work,

I ran up about 10 kills.. on myself, in a row. I'd line some guy up, in front would pop up another guy fixated on the same target..

..too late. shot myself down. 10 times.

Headed for the boonies.. figured I'd do better 1 vs many... at least I wouldn't shoot myself down, right?? Wrong. First pass.. hit the guy I was diving on.. next sortie, augered. Sortie after that, got rammed by a nutcase inna goon. *sigh*

So; I got drunk.

Next day; had a hangover, nearly killed myself again (for real) on the way to work, and spent the rest of the morning welding stuff, finding it was wrong, takin it apart and trying again,.. and again..

Phone rang... "it's fer you.." my boss says. I said  "No; it ain't. Tell 'em I left."

And I did. Went down to the boat.. looked at it... and said "No. Hell no. If I go out NOW, I'll be the local rendition of the Posidieon Adventure before I clear the breakwater." I very carefully drove home and retired to my recliner and slept the resta the day.

I may never fly again.

How's THAT fer a slump, Santa?
