Search An Rescue (not a new idea :))

What about a SAR service for helping a fellow country man land his kills ?

Imagine a country fellow shot down you pick up him and bring him home ...

Benefit :
his kills are landed (with perhaps a malus)
you got some perk point (for motivation :) )

But I'm afraid it will lead to more chute shooting :(

As I've already witnessed some people orbiting over enemy field just to jump on landing plane and getting killed by the ack in the process ...

I love this idea.

Riding a slow and helpless transport plane through the La7/Spit hordes, just to see your comrade strafed by some chute killers. ;) :D

But it would be a great addition for scenarios.
Saving your comrades and capturing the enemies.

And it would be also a real task for submarines, if they come at all.

Yes I really love this idea:D

Nice idea, could have jeeps to go pick up pilots or a Storch maybe.

hmm, where's that pic of some luft wobbles playing hide and seek in a 190?

One of them was in the tail section

here be my idea:

When you see some1 in a chute (there name would be a different colour), you would land your plane (anyplane) next to him, then he would get a button (like the load surplies button) that he would click on, it would take him to the tower with a message saying something like "your last pilot is in XXX's plane", you would get the perks for ditching, when the other pilot lands his plane you would get the perks you would have got if you landed, maybe less

I kind of like Ben's idea, because that actually did happen during World War Two. However, they were "VERY' limited in how they could move in the cockpit (unless it is larger than a single seat aircraft of course ;) -) If it is a single seat aircraft, then when the player types '.rescue name' and joins 'names' plane, the control deflections should be approximately cut in half to mimic the 'space' constraints and movement limitations in the cockpit (but not for the throttle). If they both make it back to base, the rescued pilot receives normal credit and the rescuing pilot receives a 5 point perk for rescuing a team mate. Of course, for the '.rescue name' command to work, the vehicle/plane you are joining would need to be stationary for the command to work.

For larger aircraft, it would be the exact same as above, except there wouldn't be control limitations. Of course, the added weight of the person who joined (average 200 lbs with gear?) should be added to any plane the rescued pilot joins.

I would also make it so that a C-47 (And a Ju-52 and Catalina, if we ever get them) could pick up 10 players. Until we get a Catalina, I would make it so a PT boat or LVT could pick up a pilot as well. Of course, GV's could pick up players as well.

For vehicles with available 'gunner' postions, I would make it such that, if not already occupied, the rescued person would occupy those positions.

Make it easy, a downed pilot would show up on the clipboard as a flashing red dot.

A user simply clicks on the red dot and is placed within X amount of distance from the pilot, with the vehicle auto selected to pick them up.

The challenge would be to find the pilot within that area.

Maybe a beeping sound that gradually raises, like a homing sound.. ya know something simple, yet fun.

QUick pickups would be gained by placing the user in the area of the downed pilot, and the challenge would be to find them, and also get to a safe base.

Until the beeping becomes a squeal.  At which point everyone has five seconds until the downed pilot goes nuclear.

I wouldn't add the beep. I mean, we have in game vox and a text radio. If the guy on the ground wants to be rescued, let him tell everyone where he is. Otherwise, there is just going to be one more in game 'sound' I'll want to squelch.

I'd love to see a ASR float plane!...Score it as bomber perks and have it in the text buffer when you rescue someone.

eg..."BenDover Has Rescued RonJeremy"

:D

and how about landing crafts like the LCM Mk3?
just select it and select an tank: get to the shore open doors and press bomb release button; your now in the tank and your on the shore, it's much faster than that slow LAVT versions
