well, first, I apologize for being late.  I walked int he door from Church at 1406 hrs CST. 6 min past regular start time.  I had the responsibility of feeding my kids today so I was going to let the TOD ride without me.  I realized that that was going to be tuff, so I asked the wife for forgiveness, and lunch.  (truth is, I NEVER wanted to see the EURO TOD go to Sunday, I told my squad that I would rarely attend becasue it conflicts with my real life, but that is another matter.)

I sent three waves of F4U's to 3, spread out 2 minutes per launch. Ripsnort and crew also launched the LVT's. I had B26's, Typhoons,  and SPits for escort from France to hit A7 and A3. Deal was to blow up everything and keep the fighters busy while the LVT's treked on in. It worked, but we lost a buinch of crews.

hi all

AAR 56 Firebirds

well was intresting to say the least on start up but once up and running outta a7 towards a3 in our fw190a5s things seemed to calm down a little for all of 5mins when we dropped in on some f4us i counted around 6 all lower than us, myself and furzy split into 1 pair with gremlin and grayarea the other pair and paid the f4us a welcome visit it all went a bit hectic afer this but the outcome was 6 ded f4us for the loss of grayarea and furzy altho furzy RTBed safely.
myself gremlin then joined with lucille (sp) and refueled at a4 with the idea of heading upto 7 this went terribly wrong when a spit14 and spit9 showed up with hieght on us eventully both the spit9 and spit14 fell to our guns tho a3 was captured somwhere in beetween all this happening so we continued on our way to a7 got their all was clr headed over to a3 then called to RTB end frame.

final tally for 56

skyman: 2 kills confirmed 1  unconfirmed   RTBed safley

gremlin: 2 kills confirmed  1 unconfirmed   RTBed  safley

grayarea: 1 kill confirmed  bailed

furzy: 1 kill confirmed  RTBed safley

308 RAF was sitting in tower at A3 when frame started. After several minutes without taking off, we saw several dots in the sky and still sitting in tower. Then came the order to take off. Just 1 min after this all my squaddies were dead because we were sitting ducks and vulched right after takeoff. I killed one of the F4Us but I was alone and then I just run away like hell in my 190D to save my ass. Thanks ramzey you gave me one of the 2 Doras we had.
After the vulchparty the F4Us broke off quickly and I had time to investigate the area. I found an enemy carrier right in front of the coast of A3 turning to A7. 2 lonely F4Us were not very interested in a high and fast Dora and leaved me alone.
Gladly I met skyman and his squad fighting some F4Us, but I joined them at end of it and shot down the last enemy plane.
I followed gremlin and skyman back to A4 to rearm/refuel. Then we did t/o heading to A3 (but it was captured) and met some high spit9/14. Only 2 spit (9 and 14) followed us down when we tried to escape to A4. I came in good position behind the spit14 and shot him down, but spit9 was on my 6. The spit damaged me, but before he was able to make bigger damage skyman shot him down.
I easiliy managed to fly back home and landed safely at A4, but I wasn't able to get back to the fight.

to Skyman and Gremlin for the great fight and saving my ass.

I hope my squaddies get a better chance next frame. What we think about the orders is posted in another thread.

9 GIAP fielded 16 pilots to mount one of the squads favourite rides the Typhoon.

There was a little confusion at the start which has been gone over so many times it doesn't bear mentioning again.  We launched successfully from A43 carrying 500lb bombs and crossed the channel at medium altitude at reduced throttle to preserve fuel.  GA and his Vikings swept ahead and above us to ensure a peaceful crossing.  We were ordered to position ourselves so as to be ready for late targetting.

With Normandy in sight we received orders to hit A7 field.  Well 16 tiffs vs a small undefended airfield is a bit one sided and in less than 30 seconds it was a smoking ruin.  We lost an aircraft, maybe to ack, but reviewing film, it was probably to bomb blast as he passed low over a hangar.

We reserved some ordinance in case we were required to attack A3 as well.  Climbing out we received orders to go to A3 for air to air work. We disposed of our remaining bombs on targets of opportunity (the beach defences at A7). We climbed initially north to gain altitude.  Fate and a group of 190's intervened at this time.  About 4 of them got through the Vikings and got amongst us while we were forming up.

We are claiming 3 of them killed for the loss of one our aircraft.  We lost another airframe when a pilot chose to bail for personal reasons.  At this time A3 was captured and we received a RTB order.  One pilot was leaking oil and was ordered to recover to A3 if he could.  His engine gave out close to the field and he was not able to land there.

We lost another aircraft on the return journey due to fuel starvation. We lost a final aircraft in a landing mishap due to rough terrain on the field when he put down just off the strip.

We achieved our mission objectives and more.  :) Thanks to the Vikings for their excellent cover work.  Thanks to ammo and all the cm's who put so much of their own unpaid time and effort into providing entertainment for us who are too often ungrateful.

Claiming A7 airfield and beach defenses destroyed and/or damaged
3 FW190's destroyed

Losses
1 to ack/bomb blast
2 to enemy aircraft
1 to fuel starvation
1 to landing accident
1 to suicide
I get really really tired of selective realism disguised as a desire to make bombers easier to kill.

Thx Dantoo for your fine words:D, it was a plesure to escort you guys in;).

We escorted the GIAP with Blueflight going in front 5-7miles 5k above and scout for IB.
Green flight do the sam at 5k and just above the GIAP`s, and Redflight close escort at same alt and speed as the GIAP`s at 17k.

We were heading for A-3, but GIAPS got orders to attack A-7 since i think A-3 was down;).
We headed for A-7 GIAPS`s droped there ord on it and we got company by 3-4 190 diving in.
Green flight tok up the attack and Blue flight assisted while red flight tryed to cover the GIAPS trying to get alt. But The GIAPS were spread around so it was difficult to give max protection:D.

After fighting the 190 back we were ordered to IB A-3 to take down enemy fighters who were ther. Called up Dantoo and said we were droping out from the escort and heading for A-7. 2 min after we break the toejam hitt he fan and we were in a multi fight with the enemy:eek: .
And what a great fight it was :D.

I think only 2 Vikings landed safely at base and rest was shoot down. Was a hell off a fight SALUTE 190 and 109;).
