Minor changes to CT set up...
« on: September 03, 2002, 10:12:40 AM »
Hi, all.  After running this set up for the weekend, I've asked Pyro to adjust perks slightly.  The Spit-IX should have been free from the start (sorry I didn't realize it sooner, but I almost never fly the Spit;)).  The 262 will be perked at 5 points, and still available only at A36.  Frankly, I only saw one 262 the whole weekend, but apparently they were more prevalent then expected.  These changes may or may not be made today.  It depends on whether Pyro can get to it or not.

Overall, the numbers have been almost dead-even every time I've logged on, so the plane set seems to be pretty good overall at attracting to both sides.  Thus, I'm not going to add or subtract any other a/c.  By the way, I want to thank everyone for the great fights I had this weekend.

what was the final excuse for not including the 1944 version of a certain british plane as well as the 1942 version?

Hey, why dont the germans just fly f4s?  They dont need that g10.

not that I think it is any better than the 9 but hell, this is about the silliest darn exclusion I have seen in the ct.   The plane was there, its not really uber, kinda like a slow g10, whats the deal?

Hey speaking of cheese and dweebs, some idiots have been milkrunning for awhile and the germans have a pretty good foothold in england.  Can you reset for us?  We are planning some pretty interesting bomber ops for this evening, and I am sure the lw guys would love to counter them, if the map stays as it is, we will probably just scrap it and fly spitfires all night.  I am going to post this in the other new thread as well.

No offense to the morons snagging bases when nobody is flying, just messes up some interesting flights later.  If it were any other map it would not matter, we just want to try and replicate a 'real' sortie over europe ala 1944.  Not some mythical 262s take england crap.

It is good, of course, but almost useless. Perks were not reset very long time already, and I believe most pilots has more than enough perks. For example, I have >800 :)

I'll reset the arena this afternoon, since it sounds as if the arena's porked.  As for why I left out the Spit-XIV, I did so because both sides seemed to have a good and balanced planeset without it.  Yes, the inclusion of the 262 would seem to unbalance that, but I included it as an incentive to side-balance the arena, not technological balance.  As the numbers seemed to be pretty even over the weekend, it seems to be working.  I realize some will disaggree with this, but in general I try to avoid major changes to a set up like adding or eliminating aircraft, especially if it seems to be an otherwise solid set up.  I will promise that the next time I run this set up that I'll include the Spit-XIV, though probably limited to a few bases.

I actually got to fly quite a bit this weekend, and your idea clearly worked.  Ordinarily it's difficult to get people to fly the Axis side, especially late-war German stuff.  I was in bliss the entire weekend because I could fly Allied planes with a clear conscience.  Not only that, but I didn't see a lot of jets.  I suspect that people signed up for Axis, took a 262 for a stroll, found out that it's a pretty boring ride and/or were embarrassed to keep flying it, and switched to 109s and 190s.  Interestingly, the whining I saw was mostly by people you don't often see in the CT.

- oldman (who wonders why anyone would want a spit 14 when the allies already have all these kewl planes)

Hey oldman, your right about the whiners. ahhemm ... shane...

I think the spit 14 problem is just that people want to try it without having the 'shoot me please' perk plane tag, and fight it without your opponent running at first pass.  Also, the spit 9 is a much better ride all round, so it is also something like why include the hurri 1 when you could just have the hurri 2.  The depth is fun.  I would like to try the spit 14 without the perk problem just to check it out.  Much like the 262, I flew it twice yesterday as a knit.  Got smoked on take off cause I was asking for it, then spent 20mins doing passes on the ki that smoked me and never pinged him once.  Face planted it in a cliff cause I was so bored.

buttt......  there were a dump load of em in the air when I was up.  Hopefully it will get old for people before thursday.

ERG.

The 262 gets so old the last time i flew one was about 3 months ago, and I figure I can go another couple of months without even getting curious. There are some guys that can fly the heck outta that plane. I don't know what their secret is.
