Addiction is that you can't quit without another intervention, and requires some mental and physical changes on the chemical level... which pot don't do... you can quit pot.. I did it when I had to. I don't do pot when I need to do something else.

That ain't addiction, that's a habit.

Habit is something that's done out of reflex, without much thought.  Addiction is something that's done willfully and to the exclusion of something else.  It is possible to get addicted to coffee, though it takes a bit longer than other addictive consumables.

If you can quit pot, then do.  Count the years, not the months or days between tokes.  Then claim you weren't addicted.

Udie, IMO just be real with yourself.

You're probably not going to be perfect but that's ok as long as you're headed the right direction and don't do any permanent harm to yourself.

It would obviously be best if you quit completely, immediately... but it doesn't sound like you're there yet, and I understand RL.
Here's hoping you can just forget about pot and get on with what you described about moving on and moving up!

Work on your career, fish, bash baby seals (AH),
whatever... instead !

Well it's been 2 or 3 weeks since I smoked, took 2 hits when I got out of the hostpital but it made me vomit.  I still want it, but right now I want to get toejam straight more.  This is partialy why I may move back to Houston.  It will be harder to get there, I think.
I still don't think I'll quit for good though.  Every few years I've quit for 6 months or so,  this could be one of those times.  But being sober feels better this time......

Just finished 8 miles at 7:12 pace... sore leg, I need new shoes, but other than that the pace was very easy. I have lost nearly 30 lbs since the 4th of July, and I think I am finally catching up after that stress. At 40, these kinds of things are hard on you. ;)

Udie- Not gonna preach. You know what you need to do.

If you really want to stop smoking that stuff permanently, you will need to work the steps.  Also be prepared for serious depression after you stop.

No, that's not true. But I don't want to get into it.

If you can quit pot, then do.  Count the years, not the months or days between tokes.  Then claim you weren't addicted.

Then "quit forever, then claim you weren't addicted"... yeah I've heard this line before.

Quit doing anything for a long period of time you do regularly and claim you weren't addicted.

It just turns into a long played out joke that I get tried of listening to.

Anyway, I got nothing to prove to you people... I'll keep on doing what I want, it doesn't interfere with my life, and that's all that matters.

Yes, it is much harder to run in heat. I lose about another minute per mile in the fall and winter.
