Suggestion for meeting “quick furballing” needs of AH
« on: September 11, 2002, 12:33:05 PM »
I have seen many posts of pilots wanting to be able to jump into a furball quickly and sometimes you can find that in the Main Arena and sometimes not.  I wouldn’t want a steady diet of that but when I can only fly for a few minutes sometimes it would be nice to know I could find a furball opponent quickly.
I’m not sure, technically, how this could be done but we have some brilliant people out there and I’m sure they could do it.  Why don’t we tuck away 2 opposing airbases in a remote section of every Combat Theater map with the purpose of making them a “furballing” area.  Make each field untakeable and give them planty of ack to avoid vulching and give a gang-banged pilot a place to hide temporarily.  Between the fields would be furball central as anyone who wants to fly and fight could meet.  Players could change countries easily to keep the sides even.
Many of you will recognize this as sounding like Fighter Town from AW and it does because that’s the only experience I have of this type of arena.  There are many here (such as the OL squadron) who know more about how this should be laid out than I do and could give better insight.  It would also make more use of the little-used Combat Theater and not interfere with their campaigns.
What do you think?

I'd actually suggest the DA - there are 3 bases a41, 42 and 43 on the eastern edge of the map with a big pond in the middle - this is the true free for all area in the DA, and since one can change countries with no limitations (plus the full planeset) it'd make more sense than using the CT for your purposes.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.
