Ok first off, my prediction was wrong in general. I'm glad of this as I am spared embarassment over the possible actions of some (media outlets).

I didn't watch much 9/11/02 U.S. based media coverage (mainly because I'm not in the U.S. at present). But I did see some, and that, combined with the foreign media coverage of the U.S. media coverage of the 'anniversary of 9/11/01' wasn't remotely as bad as I thought it would be. No Dan Rather or Oprah 'feeling people's pain'. No stupid sappy 'top-40 pop song' played to 'memorialize those lost'. There was a little of that, but very very little.

So in short - I assumed the worst would take place and I was way off the mark. Points for AKDejaVu for having a better grasp of the presence of real people in decision making positions spread throughout the U.S. media. It's one time I'm happy to have been way off the mark.

Secondly, I read Dave Barry all the time because he's funny as hell in my opinion. He got serious for the 9/11/01 anniversary and he wrote a couple of articles. Check out the links. If you read Dave Barry regularly, let me know what you think:
