Tried that also Lephturn but it would not go past the windows xp splash screen. Right at the time you think it would start to boot into XP you would see the video card bios screen then the bios boot screen.
I just suffered the exact problem you that you describe. The Service pack has deleted your video drivers. You will need a complete set of your card's video drivers before you try the steps below. This fixed my problem (with an NVidia GeForce3 Ti).
1) If you can boot into windows Safe Mode, perform a system restore to a time previous to the SP1 update.
2) On the next reboot, where it asks if you want to boot in safe mode, arrow down or up and choose the "Boot to previous configuration" (I forget the exact syntax).
3) With no video drivers loaded, you will now be stuck in 640x480 and 4bit color. Load and install your video drivers then reboot.
4) Reconfigure the graphics to whatever resolution and color settings you had prior to the service pack installation.
