I pretty much have to agree with NUTTZ.  AH doesn't have the eye-candy that some of the boxed sims, so more emphasis should have been placed on the advantages.  Hard to do in a 30 second spot.

Community, support, flight model, blah blah blah doesn't make for a visceral advertisement, though.

Maybe if the AH film matched the real ones?  Stage AH films that duplicate the events pictured in the WWII footage?

I can think of some really dramatic scenes from the air war in WWII that could be duplicated in AH:

1. P47 low on the tail of a 190; the 190 is banking away to the left and you can see the puffs from the 47's shells hitting the dirt in the field below.

2. IJN planes attacking the CVBG, and the amazing amount of tracers in the air chasing after them

3. You had the 17s dropping bombs; precede that with actual footage.

4. Same with the F4F taking off from the CV

Dunno.  Have to think about it...of course since my input in the process is pretty much ZERO and I have other things to think about...  :D

Still, glad to see the ads going out.  BZ, HTC!!!

I think same..Add could be better...It's good but not as great as AH experience is.

Should have had some film from the scenarios or something.  I didn't see any large dogfights.

Honestly guys lighten up, it's great that HTC has actually gone ahead and done this, this is great advertising for AH. You can have all the swanky visual and ingame footage in the world but so often the message can get lost where it does not in the ad posted above.

Besides if you really wanted to give them an idea of AH it would be footage from the MA with swarms of Nik's and La7's :D

Air time is spendy; the _LAST_ thing you want to do is "lighten up".  You want to grind, and grind and pick and peck and beat on any kind of mass advertising until you squeeze out every last bit you can from it.

The more eyes that look at a proposed bit of advertising the happier I am, anyway.  I'd much rather hear "nice, but..." than "perfect", because nothing is perfect.

I'm not in any way suggesting it was a bad film, I was putting my rupee in and suggesting alternative approaches.  :)

By the way, on the community a nice shot of a raid taking off (40-some people in the air headed the same way) is always good for an ahhh!  A good CM view of a massive multi-level furball wouldn't suck, either

Like I said in my last post, Bravo Zulu.

I spent ALOT of money advertising on Discovery, and CNN during the OJ trials. Advertising is expensive, I absolutely hated my first ad,, I yanked it and we redid the whole spot with another company.

Hell, it's only honest my opinion, HTC will do what they want.

personally i think HTC has it in them to really make my jaw drop in amazement, sorry it just wasn't captured in the promo to me.

The difference? MA opposed to a senerio,,,, White knuckles ,sweating, immertion..... same game different feeling.

it lacked the "white knuckles"

A scene I'd know would make me want to go try this game is this - Imagine really old WW2 camerashot of some aircrafts about to enter action/bombing/something and then it fades to ingame graphics of the same aircrafts just as this action is starting to take place...  ...mmm, lovely! :D

Having seen all the screenshots people have altered so that they look like old photographs (and tried it myself), this shouldn't be too hard to do, if HTC decides to make another commercial.

IT was nice!  In fact very nice!  I believe some improvement could be done.

Once during the BOB CT, I seen a formation of Spitfires taking off from an airfield and it was the most impressive things I have seen in AH.  Could easily be filmed.

Later in the same flight I was a member of a flight of Spits that attacked massive amounts of JU88s.   Looked impressive!

Getting a formation of 4 P-51s dropping ext tanks and peeling off to attack a lower enemy would be a good one.

There was to much real footage that could be replaced with actual AH footage.

HTC has power in developing the best on-line flight sim in the world, I suggest they use it to their advantage.

Just my humble opinion!

Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

I am thoroughly convinced that Nancy Lynn is being controlled by puppet strings and is kept alive on daily injections of formaldehyde. Where did they dig her up from anyway??

Um Guys,

I think your missing the bigger picture. This is the FIRST television commercial for a MMOL game. Not EQ, not UO, nobody has done this before. Once again, HTC leads the way for online sims. Maybe the Spielbergs amoung us could do a better job, and they will get their chance. This is just the 1st, there will be more I'd bet. Heck, I'd like to see a contest, wouldn't you?

I've heard talk about this ad already from DW fans. It's the 1st pitch in the game... (sorry) :) But HTC took a mighty swing and...

Goodbye Mr. Spalding!  :D

WTG killas. The HTC team seems to know where they're going.

That ad is sure to bring in tons of new cliets. I can see it now, 15 minute text lags and dead planes flying for 30 minutes.
