Signal Smoke

Thought of this while hosting tank wars, (exagerated a bit to show the confusion)

While I was flying in a c47 asking where my team needed supplies dropped they said near the church, i looked down  and I saw 5 churches, and i said which church they say the red and white on, they are all red and white.

Perhaps make signal flare/and signal smoke already got the smoke just need the programming to make it useable by all gvs.

|Edited for spelling|

That way ground and airfroces can communicate on where supplies need to be dropped, and bomber formations can communicate when there radio gets shot out. (When the time comes)

Ok here is a scenario.

|AIR: Ok im on my way you guys where yah need the supplies
Ground: Rgr that Air popin signal smoke.
|AIR: Rgr that I seegreen smoke for go.
Ground: CC
|Air: coming down
Ground:RGR
|Air *Drops 5 of 10 supplies on area*
Ground: ok were popping purple smoke for secondary drop zone.

Ext.

perhaps making them different colors and customizable between black, green, red, yellow, orange, purple.

I know that there was red, purple, green, and yellow smoke grenades.

I think it would be fun to play around with this.

I would like feedback from other players,
Thanks,

Great Idea!

I would love to see Mosquito pathfinders dropping flares on strat targets at night for Lancs to follow in on heavy bombardmen too.

Strange I was expecting more people to like this idea.

Should I post this somewhere else?

With the current AH setup I cannot see any benefit from flares/smoke. Doesn't really matter where you drop troopers/supplies on a field - and after 2 goon sorties you know the excact position of every maproom - because it's the same on all fields (hey, we even got maps for them on the clipboard).

Little more effective with GV supplies - but, happens rarely anyway, icons system shows name of every friendly -  if ya can't find the neon-billboard-icon, you won't find a column of smoke anyways, plus smoke rather makes the enemy see you; so range vox should do the job.

Mark strategic targets? We have a satellite/radar map which show you the excact position of every valuable tgt. The new bombing system denies pin-point bombing anyway, wind is marked on the clipboard...

---

Would rather see some brush-up of textures, bailing animation, more visible damage etc. - the smoke is just eye-candy and I'd like the candy elsewhere better!

I like the idea in theory.  But practically it doesn't have much use.  As well as the points Kirin made, don't vh supplies resupply all vhs for 5-10 miles of drop?

Great idea!  Useful at this point in time or not.  It would still be cool.
