Reuters.

After a long wait the LW forces have moved north from southern Norway to attack the ports of Bergen and Trondheim.  During an epic air battle, the like of which never seen before in the history of warfare, the LW quickly captured a Norwegian airfield near Trondheim, presumably to be used as a staging post for the capture of Trondheim itself.  FAA forces flying from the Ark Royal were unable to prevent the airdrop of German Troops into Trondheim and the surrender of the port.

Meanwhile, the battle over Bergen was intensifying with most of the FAA aircraft converging over the area.  2 Hurricane pilots were reported scouting to the south of Bergen and were engaged by a large number of enemy aircraft.  The pilots were able to withdraw further north, destroying at least one enemy aircraft in the process.  1 of the hurricanes, piloted by Flying Officer Vulcan, was shot down while engaged by 4 ME109s.  Flying Officer Vulcan was recovered and reported 1 109 destroyed.

LW long range scouts had succeeded in pinpointing the Royal Navy Carrier, Ark Royal, but the initial dive bombing attack by a single JU-88 was inaccurate.  Approximately 45 minutes later a further attack by a formation of JU-88 was reported and radio contact was temporarily lost with the ship.  A few minutes later a final radio transmission was heard from the Ark Royal:  "HQ from Commander, Ark Royal.  Wish to report loss of ship, we are abandoning ship with many casualties."

With the loss of the Ark Royal the Norwegian Government issued a statement almost immediately:  With the loss of a Royal Navy FAA presence in the area the Norwegians feel we will be unable to prevent the invaders and in order to cease further loss of life we intend to capitulate with the Germans.

Only a few minutes after the statement was issued the port of Bergen fell into enemy hands.

Prime Minister Churchill has ordered all RAF and FAA forces to withdraw from Norway.

What kind of Cigars is Churchill smoking?  The krauts never got the port at Bergen, and we were just regrouping to get them out of the city as well.  Another five minutes and we'd have had them just where they wanted us.

Really.  Gotta get the crack out of those stogies.

;)  Sorry Puck old matey but Bergen was captured about 5 seconds after we closed the logs.

However, with the loss of the Ark Royal the Norwegian gov capitulated anyway.  The CV was a hidden objective for the LW, in the event of a tied frame the CV was the decider.  Kisters sunk the Ark Royal with about 20 mins to go.

Neither CO knew about the hidden objective and both were informed at frame end.  The capture of Bergen seconds after end of frame just drives home the point.  :D

Not a chance.

When I get that machine running again we'll see if the radio buffer was saved (I recorded the whole thing).

Logs CLOSED

Field 37 captured by the sheep shagging evildoers  :D

Just about that fast, too.  :)

If the Luftweenies DIDN'T win that would be the heartbreaker of the century, considering it was less than a second between log close and cap.  There was nothing green left in the air over Bergen...I think I was about the last one to go down.

Puck you spy.
Norway had already capitulated 20 mins before the end-drama.
With the cv sunk and already 1 port captured it was already a LW victory :) , the last port just added thrill but the whole thing was already quite finished.
Better luck next time RAF, you made us pay dearly for this victory.

Nice try puck :D but i typed 'Logs Closed' just before I actuallty sent the logs closed command.  Methinks only a cruel hearted monster (like swoop :D) would have closed the logs while 5 troops were in the map room and another 5 were on the way in:p

That's it.  Next time I'm going to spy longer before I return to friendly lines.

Thought I had you, too.  :)

How did one person sink a CV?  was the hardness changed from the default 8000 lbs?

yes there is, we're just sorting out the 1st run of the medal system and will be releasing logs and the award list at the same time.  Since this is the 1st run through we need to double check everything, the process will get faster as we sort everything out.
