Saturday night CAP
« on: September 14, 2002, 08:57:45 PM »
The CAP tonight was the most fun I've had on AH to-date.

The arena accomplishes getting teams together into coordinated airforces.  I came away from this thinking that I have a little better idea what it was really like 60 years ago.

I was in a small flight of 4 that ended up with 4 victories ( 2 were mine)and 1 death (that wasn't me).

Anyone got any good warstories from tonight?

I'll second that.  Most fun I've had to date, and I've had a LOT of fun.  The three lives thing was a srtoke of genius, even though I never actually died (bailed once in the middle and once at the end after the entire LW was on my butt).

Should get credit for (at least) three 88s and a piece of a 110.  One of the 88s managed to do me a world of harm just before his wings fell off, and I think I was on the silk before his wreckage hit the ground.  I probably put 300 holes in that 110 and he flew off.  Those 8 303s make the Hurri I a paper cut machine.

My second 88 kill required more than half of my rounds.  The third was a pilot kill.

I will confess I was still flying (barely) on that last bail.  The frame was about two minutes from over, there were just under 485,216 LW aircraft chasing me, and most of the airplane was already gone.  Figured it was time to get out before they got a cannon shell in my spleen.

Of course now I'm going into withdrawl.  I took my flight machine apart so I can put a peltier on the CPU.  Hoping that helps what's left of my CTD problem.  Most of it was fixed when I found the new drivers for the on-board sound chip.

Looking forward to the next frame!

...and by the way, the logs closed BEFORE the port was taken.

Well.  Maybe they DIDN'T all fly off unhurt  :D

7 kills on two bails.  They can always cut down another tree to make me new airplanes

When's the next CAP?

DAMN FUN!!!

Puck, that 110 you put 300 rounds in didn't happen to be in a dive was it? :)

I had a hurri teasing my 110 in a dive, he put a 2 second burst in me, tickle tickel tickle it said, no dammage of course :D

hiya Mosgood,

I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

for coordinated and disiplined flying!!

That goes for the whole group too. :)

Btw, I did a recount on those kills and I think we got 6 kills after all. We'll find out for sure when we see some kinda logs/scoreboard.

That absolutely best online flying I ever had. I got a 2 hour long film and lots of great pictures too. I ended up with 8 kills bailing 3 minutes before logs closed :D

Here are some of the nicer pictures ;)

greetin' the 109 that shot me ;)

At the bigging of the frame, our merry band of 4 110's ran into a gaggle of 12-14 spits at around 18k.  They were at 28-30k.  They were right where we were supposed to be.  Which was capping A16.

Half of them engage us while the others cracked opened some beers to watch the show.

So after a few passes we had 6-8 spits chasing us out to sea on the deck.  Whenever they would fall behind we would gain some alt to let them catch up a little

Against the numbers we saw, that was all our flight was really good for, dragging the enme down.  Or keeping them distracted.  The speed advantage of the 110's served the purpose well.

Have to agree......the most fun I've had in AH since I've been here.  The coordination was excellent and communication also.  Also was fun flying WITH gents like Wotan, Moot, and my all time favorite Wilbus......I still pinged him, even though we're both  flying LW in the CAP and in Wotans squad.  Wilbus sorry, but old habits die hard :D

Other than the time constraint pressed on to Euro friends (11pmEST), I loved being able to have a life every 30 min.  This accomodates the set goals for each team.  You know your mission, you basically have 3 or 4 attempts to do it right if you die.

You Luftweenies are SO lucky the Hurri I didn't have ALJD[1] technology incorporated.

You would have been in SO much pain...
