Since my last headline didn't get a second glance, I figured this one might get one or two of yours attention.

Ya know, I've been reading these boards pretty steady for a few months now and maybe I have an answer to this gangbanging issue.

It's fairly obvious that "realism" is the goal here. (example- a few days ago i read a post about the new tiger tank shouldn't have a machine gun on top until the version 2 years later came out). Cool! I like realism, that's why I'm here.

Now, realism (in my mind) is, If I was in a combat situation and saw a buddy of mine getting jumped or even him jumping some else, I'm going to help him out. What's more realistic in war than using a numeric advantage to crush your enme's? 5 to 1? Great for me and you're dead so who cares what you think.

The MA is designed for teams to accomplished tactical and strategic goals to win the map. If it was geared for 1on1, there probably wouldn't be any teams. Everyone would just be on their own side and try to kill everyone else.

Now, I do understand that there should be a place for pilots to go where they can find others to duel 1on1. I just don't see that place being setup with complex and team based goals that promote teamwork as the MA is for.

The dueling arena is a good place for it, but it doesn't supply pilots to fight 1on1. From what I can tell is, usually, 2 pilots hook up in the MA and than go to the DA to duel.

So, to finish this long road to a small house, why not have a signup sheet attached to the roster in the MA? If you want to duel, check a box by your name to indicate you're sporting for a fight or look to see who else has has a box checked by their name that indicates their looking for a fight? If you see one, give him the bird and tell him he can meet you out back in the DA.

Is this unrealistic?

Free beer will cure gangbanging?  I don't see the connection, but I'm willing to give it a try.

sort of.  straight up duels can get boring after a while.  part of the appeal in finding a 1 v 1 in MA is the variety in the way the engagement will be set up.  you could be in disimilar planes, disparate atls and energy states.

my particular annoynace in the MA gangbangs is when i'm off the beaten path, away from the hamstard trails bewteen bases and yet still find my self getting ganged when someone wanders over to engage me and then turns tail for that hamstard trail for help.

i mean is 3+ on 1 truly *needed*? does it make tactical sense in some situations? do you know why the sbd's at midway made it thru to the japanese CV's?  think about it.

now when it comes to actual base ops and the nearby furballs... anything goes. but.... again  where's the fun in overwhelming a base an dthen squabbling over killing for the 1 or maybe 2 guys that might try and defend it?

it's just a game... and there's much more to it than merely the hamstard wheel of reset.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

I've tried this extensively and it hasn't seemed to cure gang-banging. In fact after a heavy session I end up seeing even more bad-guys than there actually are.
