Pan View
« on: September 05, 2000, 07:48:00 AM »
Anyone use it?

I've tried time & time again to use the panning option from the cockpit but I just lose my bearings every time   and end up switching back to the 26 "snap" views. I'm sure there must be people out there using it successfully what's your secret?

Thanks in advance

It would be great to be able to use your mouse for the pan view.

Regards.

I use it when I'm flying formatin, it helps me keep the plane in 1 spot on my window.  I won't take it past the 3/9 line though because it does get disorienting.

I want some 3d goggles that track my head position for controlling the panning.

Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

Hi Snafu

I use pan view 99% of the time - I find the snap views play havoc with a condition I have so the only time I'll use instant/snap is when a bandit is on my six.

I like pan, it's more realistic than instant etc.  You can also search for things a lot easier IMHO.  Obviously it can be a tad slow at times but you soon get used to it!

Keep giving it a go snafu!
