Nifty, louisville was ranked 102nd man. Some of their offense play football as a second sport, basketball being primary. That was a HUGE losss. I know it sux when it's your team and all, but louisville should have in no way been able to play with the #4 team in the nation. All I'm saying is that's a big loss for FSU. Huge. It's clear that you guys are die hards.

Florida and Miami don't seem to lose many bowl games either.

Lets take the last 20 years, and W/L records for each team in each division. That would be a fair assessment as to whether sports writers, populated primarily on the east coast, who poll, as to whether or not they do indeed over rank.

Rip, postseason is a game based on your ranked standing (decided by the 'biased' reporters). It is the chance you have to make a statement about being underrated, or get stomped because you are overrated.

Teams and conferences that do well in postseason go into the next season rated well. Those that do not, do not. I think you'll find that is much of the basis for the grand conspiracy you see.

Well fatty, all I know is when they do the coaches, writers polls, and compare them to a pre-calculated computerized poll based on talent, divisions, who they play, the polls come out vastly different than "opinions" of persons. Someone on Sporting news posted an example of this last year. Basically I stand by what I posted, when you have a majority of the writers that vote in a poll east of the Miss. river, you're gonna find bias.

Then sweep the bowl games. You should be able to with the inherent bias giving you easier opponents than you should have.

That is how FSU and Miami got to where they are now (UF is a little difference because they already had the recognition of a major conference). When you go thru 14 straight bowl games without losing one, people have no choice but to start thinking maybe they underestimated you.

FSU and Miami were two that made it in a parallel poll with computer rankings, they seem to be an exception to the rule (but then again, why shouldn't they be, look at their talent pool they get to recruit from, when you win that much, everyone wants to play there...)

By the way, yes FSU is overrated this season. Nifty and I have known that ever since they escaped vs Iowa State (though I think they'll beat Nebraska this weekend), we just hoped they could get the secondary and offense together before the Miami game.

HB where'd you pull that ranking on the Cardinals? They came into the season top 25, though sputtered pretty bad coming out of the gate.

Ok, Rip. The Pac-10 is underrated and the east teams are overrated due to media bias. Let's look at the Pac-10 teams this year. I'll leave out wins against lowly out of conference opponents Why? because you want to dismiss the conference games FSU and Miami play due to weak conferences. btw, Miami is playing FSU, Florida and Tennessee out of conference this year. They make up for the weak conference (excluding Virginia Tech, ask Texas A&M if Tech is weak) by playing tough out of conference games.

Arizona - lost to Wisconsin (beat N. Arizona and Utah)
Arizona St - killed by Nebraska (beat 3 not so good teams)
Cal - bright spot, spanked Michigan State. Lost to Air Force (beat 2 not so good teams)
Oregon - beat Miss St (not all that great, but SEC nonetheless). Beat Fresno St (not good without David Carr), beat 2 more not so good teams (hell, is Portland State even Div IA???)
Oregon St - Beat Fresno St (again, not good) and 3 other chump teams (including one of those Big East wusses, Temple, you alluded to)
Stanford - lost to Boston College (Big East team!) and beat San Jose State (not very good)
UCLA - Beat Colorado State, Oklahoma State then lose to Colorado. Not too bad so far, but Colorado? come on, they didn't even have their starting QB!
USC - Beat Auburn in a good game, beat Colorado, then lose to Kansas State (who had previously never won a home game versus a ranked non-conference team).
Washington - Lost to Michigan, beat San Jose State and Wyoming.
Wash State - Lost to Ohio State, beat Nevada, Idaho and Montana State (this team Div IA???)

More often than not, the Pac-10 has lost their out of conference games against "quality" opponents. The two teams from your state both lost to Big-10 schools (albeit on the road, but still, a loss is a loss.)

Do you think Louisville will still be "102nd" now? I bet they're in the top 25 pretty soon if they keep winning.

I also bet Ragone goes in the NFL draft on Day 1.

Only thing Louisville had going against them this year was inexperience on the O-Line and penalties. Last night, they managed to overcome that and win. (Ragone was sacked 6 times, and forced to scramble another 15 times. I don't know how many hurries and knockdowns he suffered.)

3 winning seasons, 1 break even and 6 losing ones.

Pac-10 bowl records over the past 10 seasons.
2001 - 2-3
2000 - 3-2
1999 - 1-4
1998 - 1-4
1997 - 5-1
1996 - 1-3
1995 - 1-4
1994 - 2-2
1993 - 3-1
1992 - 2-4

over last 10 seasons - 21-28 or 42.9% winning percentage.

Though in the past 2 seasons, they've at least broke even. Pretty much seems to jive with this year's out of conference games. They lose some and they win some.
