All good ideas.

Anyone know which german bomber carried the 'Satan'? SC1800.  as far as I know this was the largest GP bomb dropped on UK soil during WW2. (and if I'd read HoHuns post properly I'd know, oops  ;) )

As always LRG is the place to go for WW2 german bomb specs

Not sure whether to believe it or not but I just did a quick search and apparently the Ju87D could mount an SC1800 as well

P-38L-5-LO had strengthened racks underneeth specificly for the purpose of carrying 2000 pounders and/or 300 gallon drop tanks (300 gallons of gas weighs about 2500 lbs)

F4UDOA - is that 1st pic Korean War era? - i've read F4U-1d carried bombs on underwing racks in addition to centerline point for D/T. i've also read that the AU-1 could carry 8500 lbs total (but probably not off the carrier deck) - 2nd pic looks to have a 1944 number on it, but that field looks too nice to be a combat ops field - Wright field maybe?
