CV Suggestion
« on: October 14, 2002, 01:24:26 AM »
Not to hash out an ongoing issue, but notice an item that hasn't been brought up on the whole CV durability issue.

I had to reload AH because of some file corruptions that occurred (via my son:rolleyes: ) and was offline setting up/testing things out when I noticed that the carrier had 4 5" / 4 40mm gun mounts and the cruiser had 6 5" / 4 or 6 40mm mounts.  In the last couple of months I have seen the threads talking about CV survivability, some suggest upping the damage taken and others talking about restricting types of weapon loads, etc. (most were good suggestions).

What about just opening up all gun positions to be manned and when they are unmanned, the AI takes them back over as is currently?  Could increase the overall defense some if all guns could be controlled manually.  AI operated positions have a accuracy factor.  By all positions being "manned", it seems to me it would greatly enhance the defenses by accuracy and amount.  Plus, give the availability for a better SA around the CV then the sometimes standard of an 5" follow one target out 6-8k when another is on the deck 2k away. Of course, the ability of the persons actually firing would be the factor on better or worse than AI.

Just a thought on something I recently noticed.

I'd like to see the guns treated like buff guns (i.e. one guy can aim more then one gun).

Like the buff gun idea, and AI idea.
