Joystick troubles.
« on: October 19, 2002, 03:55:33 PM »
My Sidewinder 2 joystick hat for viewing isn't working now and I have no rudder control either.  It used to work fine until recently.  I uninstalled the joystick software and reinstalled it yet the problem persists.  The joystick software shows that inputs from the hat (and I presume the rudder too) are making it into the computer, but it's not showing up when I try to play AH.

What do I do to get this thing functional again? I would GREATLY appreciate and advice you can give me.  Thanks.

Recalibrated lately?

Reinstalled the software?

Suggest you try them first.

Sounds like you need to remap the joystick commands

When he goes to "stick-mapping" and presses the hat buttons...they do not register in AH at all.  AT all.  So you cannot map to them.  His operating system (Windows Me) see's the stick and all of the buttons fine.  Hogboy is a dedicated AH dude that has been sidlined by this problem for a while.  Could this be a DirectX problem????  I know nothing about it........

Did you upgrade to windows XP? Go into setup in the  game click on joystick then select joystick. Scroll down find hat controll and click on it see if one of the joystick options highlights allso move your hat and rudder see if itsmoving in the game setup.

Theres a file in progfiles/HTC/Aceshigh/settings/stick
Try moving it to a different loctation.  Theres also one in there for forces & Joystick mapping you may also try moving them out.
You will have to re setup the joystick in ah but I have found that file can get messed & bugger rudder control up. Mayalso efect the other problem.
If it dont work you can always put back the files from where you moved them.
