I'd go with the P5 4 gigahertz CPU with an Asus quadrilateral overhead cam, self cooling 690 meg SDRAM motherboard. Geforce 3 is getting dated, go with a VooDoo 8000 256 meg video card. Here's a link to a hardware site with a good deal on it.

Why would you blow money on a P4?

Answer: Just like anyone else that buys one, it's so you can say you have a P4 2Ghz, as posted above.

Please just send me the extra $300. Intel don't need it.

AMD Athlon.

Oh, and because of this too-

The Sense Or Nonsense Of High Speed Processors-

"There is another reason why the majority of people out there could and still can do just fine without 1.xx GHz processors. 99% of today's software performs just fine on Pentium III or Athlon systems with clock speeds of 1 GHz or even less. It is difficult to find a sensible justification for the purchase of a 1.4 GHz or faster system if there ain't any software that takes advantage of it. Even computer games, which used to be the No.1 clock speed eaters, are running perfectly on slower machines, especially once this system has been upgraded with a fast graphics card. This situation shows that the release of a processor at 2 GHz is pretty much the last thing we users really needed. The main catch of Intel's Pentium 4 2 GHz launch is that it improves Intel's prestige. Finally Intel can once again declare that it's making the doubtlessly fastest microprocessor. Intel hasn't been able to say that for a rather long time. "

Athlons at 1.2ghz are about $100 and run the hell out of everything.

I agree with Creamo (can't believe I say this, lol)

Running AMD Athlon 1GHz, 256Mb SDRAM, Geforce2 64Mb, 40Gb HD, SB Live Value.

Smooth as a babies butt with an average frame rate between 85 and 60. Why spent so much money on top of the line PC when you prolly need to upgrade in two years again. Better to spent that extra money on the beer and the babes m8,   :D

They're right Fester..

Athlon 1.4 Ghz bundled with DDR and VIA KT266A chipset motherboard is just as fast as 2.0Ghz P4, but one third of the price.

You'll be literally wasting your money by buying overpriced RDRAM and P4.

Trust me.

Geforce3 is good, although I'd wait a bit to see what radeon8500 will bring along with it.. I don't like the image quality on geforce cards + no current games really take advantage of geforce3 options. For Aces High, Geforce2 ultra will run it as fast or faster.

Just make sure you get a DDR system, RDRAM sucks!

Get a UDMA100 7200 rpm HD, if you can. A good one is the IBM Deskstar 75GXP 46 Gb version.

I've found it's quiet and lightning fast.
