Turning into a luffwobble dweeb..and loving it.
« on: October 18, 2002, 08:59:57 AM »
Well...a 190 dweeb anyway. I've been tooling around in the Dora alot. I'm gonna give the a5/a8 much more of a whirl as well I'm thinking.

Why? Well...xBAT tends to find himself in deep doodoo quite often. I enjoy flying aggressively. This tends to land me in situations where I'm surronded by red cons. The Dora will allow me to go after a kill...get that kill.... and if needed get out of the A-O. Heck...if you stay fast it even seems to turn pretty darn well.

The a5 i've flown some in other tours. I've had limited success w/it.

The A8...I have no idea. My squadie Hajo flies it w/great success.

Okay...now I'm a decent stick I think. What I'm looking for is any thing in the way of tips/tricks/advice you experten have that might help me out w/the FW series.

Okay..start posting.

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

Being in a Pony squad, I don't often fly too much else.  However, I have taken the Dora up a couple times and I must say I enjoyed it thoroughly.  She's a quick ride, and packs a decent punch.  Her snap roll is second to none and will allow you to reverse very quickly.  I've also noticed that she'll take a whopping amount of punishment before going down.  The few times that I have taken her up, I've landed with no less than five kills, and I'm certainly not the best stick in the game.

Were I ever to defect to the Evil Empire, the Dora would be my ride of choice...

WEP is very important in the Dora because with it she can easily outrun Spits and Ponys but without it, it gets a little but hairy.  Even though WEP time is 9 minutes, cooling time is huge, so once it's gone it's pretty much gone.  I'd say don't use WEP until E states begin to equalize between you and your opponent (I'm assuming you engage with an E-advantage).

Like many planes, the Dora hold e well but also like many planes a barrel roll with a little rudder and chopped throttle will slow you down fast.  This is a nice defensive maneuver when you've got one glued on your 6.  If there's one on my six, I generally try to get her going as fast as I can so that the NME thinks that I might be running and throttles up as well.  This way when I chop throttle and start barrel rolling, the bandit will have way too much speed and maybe even if they realize what I'm doing it will be too late.

Shame on you Batdog.

Jumping on the "i got monster wep to run like a nancy when I screw up" wagon.

a 190D9. Bleh.

I mean, I know you suck in the P-38, but man it aint no reason to give up. The first step towards 38'ness is to realize you ARE what sucks, not the plane. ;) ;) ;) ;) :D :D :D :D

That being said, I hope your sorry bellybutton goes rook so I can shoot you down. Go rook. Only then will I have my wenches huddled in 1 side.

(all in good fun, though I still hope you auger in it)

Hehe.. TAC!!!!

Actualy I havent flown the 38 for awhile that much. I have a annoying habit of getting in  situations where I'm out numbered and facing a mix of planes in my 38.

Soooooooo...I'm going luffwaff mostly for abit. The FW requires me to think about wtf I'm doing. The A8 is a killer...I like it for some reason. Anyway...as we all know I suck hind tittie no matter what I fly in.

You flying any?

Not ATM. Did fly a 2 week freebie since I changed my ISP. I do fly in H2H some, but for some weird reason I get the same bug in H2H that I got when the STALL LIMITER was first put in... pull back full on stick and the plane turns like a loaded B-17. Joystick shows perfect calibration and no spiking in windows or AH calibration screen. And the stall limiter is off :(  So I cant fly in H2H anymore. Funny thing is, it didnt ever do that during my 2 weeker.. maybe the H2H runs a few patches behind? Dunno.

Waiting for HTC to make autoflapretract a .command we can toggle on and off .. or an early 38...or a P-61 to return ;) :D

You'll find that you can bag more kills in the A8 than in the A5 for one simple reason: bigger volume of fire.  Take the A8 with the four 20mm in the wings and dual 17mm in the cowl and you'll be snapping off your enemies' wings with 3 good hits.  That comes in handy for those snap shots when enemy planes are in your forward view for a spit second.   There's a certain joy in watching Mustangs, Hellcats, Corsairs, LA-7s, LA-5s, 109s, and Spitfires (and the occassional P-47, N1K2 and Hurricane IIc if you shoot first) try a head-on attack and end up crumbing before your superior FW190A8 guns.

Those big guns also come in handy for busting up bombers and ground vehicles.

If you're a crappy pilot (like me) and can't do a lot of turn fighting, then the FW190A8 is the plane for you because the 190 can't turn.  You plow into a fight, spray your target, and just keep going straight until you're 5 miles away.  If nothing explodes, then you turn around and do it again.

Don't try to HO the Me110, P-38, or Mossie.  You can end up on the bad side of the lethality contest.

The F8 is also a good plane if you want to mix in a little ground-pounding of a town or lightweight ground vehicle just for kicks.  If you're serious about a ground attack flight, then take the Mustang, P-38, Typhoon, or P-47 and do it right, but the F8's ability to carry a single 500 pounder and 4 smaller bombs gives you a five-drop option that can be kind of fun.  And the beauty is, the icons all say "FW190" so your enemy won't know that you don't have those other two cannon in the outer gun ports.

Of course, this only works if you're a Knight.  If you fly for Rooks or Bishops, then flying the A8 will instantly cause a crash to desktop, your harddrive will be reformatted, your bank account number will be transmitted across the Internet, and hackers will upload sheep porn to your computer (and tell your parents about it).
