Is mission channel FUBAR?
« on: October 16, 2002, 11:42:47 AM »
I just did a mission from A229 to Bish HQ, the first person to join mission was Ute. I thanked Ute for joining then continued to promote mission. After getting to alt and within sight of HQ I was bounced by Hog and after a few minutes was shot down by Ute. WTF? Is there a bug in mission channel that allows other country to some how see mission being planned? Or is Ute just a scum-of-the-earth that makes this game to aggrivating to worry about?
Its this kind of crud that is worthless, I can get just as aggrivated by working a few extra hours without pay.

Ute could not have shot you down as you are on the same team.  If he had tried, HE would have been shot down.  What's more Ute is a great guy and I couldn't see him doing such a thing even if he could.

I'll take that bet.  Ute has been a long time squadie and one of the two RCAF 418 fly under is that we are perm bish.

I fky knit and have always flown knit, this was a knit mission. In my mission planner and on mission vox it showed Ute as the first to join up. What I'm asking is, is there a bug that would allow another country player to show up in the mission box? Or was it just as simple as a player switching sides after mission rolls?
Whatever it was it really just pissed me off, I'm very level headed and enjoy this game but that kind of crap is uncalled for from someone you seem to think is so honerable. So in closing, how can ute show up in my mission box and vox and then end up intercepting our flight and shooting me down?

I was in a P-47 mission a couple weeks ago where we were having the same problem.  There were folks in the mission channel that we could not see in the flight.

This should be an easy bug to test for.  Set up a mission and do roll call on the country channel.  If someone fails to respond, check the roster for side they are on.  There may well turn out to be a bug that lets people tune to mission channels.

The mission VOX window is broken.
It shows a lot of people in but not from ur country and not from ur mission.
But that doesent mean the can see what mission u are going to do.
Its just a display bug not more.

Yes, it's a bug, and a long standing one at that.  Mission vox allows players from other teams to hear your voice transmissions...don't use it.  Instead, use a numbered voice channel between 1 and 200, (over 200, other team players can get on it.)

Imo, what probably happened is Ute may have overheard your mission plans vis the mission channel, completely by accident, and, bad luck for you.

As far as him showing on the mission roster as well, that's something I haven't seen, but it could be related to the mission voice bug somehow.

Did you ask Ute about it.  What did he say?

Btw, I don't blame you for being pissed.  Never use mission voice, it doesn't work right.

In that case u are wrong.
The players from other teams DONT hear u. They dont even know they are listed in that channel.
so u can use the mission channel without any problems.

1 thing when you thanked Ute for join did he say Hi?

Dont think he would do that 418th dont need spies, so HIGHLY doubt he would switch then switch again... plus if he changed he couldnt change back for 12 hours or whatever it is......

Just logged in to the game and squaddies told me about this thread.

I absolutely did not switch countries to spy, and I absolutely did not know of your mission, and I absolutely did not talk to you before or during the mission via chat box or vox.

I had been flying cap at the HQ for approximately 30 minutes and was there as your mission arrived. I am sure any logs would show this.

The only explantion could be a possible bug, or you are mistaken that my handle "ute" was the one in your mission. Perhaps "mute", or "ude" or etc.

I have played AH for about a year and a half, never been accused of "hacking" or "cheating".

I have seen strange things l when using mission channels last night we had akwrong showing on mission channel for a couple hours alltho he still showed bish. I dont think it was anything he was doing and I am not sure if he could hear us. This is not the first time either I have seen other enemy pilots tuned to mission channel while they are still on the other countrys roster.
