Notice.. they let Bud fly "Old Crow" alone.

I highly recomend his book "To Fly and Fight".. great stuff.

Roger, that.  Jack Roush (of racing team fame) owns the restored P-51 that Anderson flies.  Appartently he's been very generous about letting him fly it.

Just thought I'd throw in two links to Dogfighter here.  The first is to our [review] of Anderson's book To Fly and Fight: Memoirs of a Triple Ace.

The second is to an [interview] we conducted with the man himself!  It has been a real pleasure and honour to correspond with "Bud" Anderson, and I think he and Dogfighter's John "Wily" Mollison have struck up some sort of friendship.

Sorry, to blatantly stick in a few links, but they are particularly à propos.

Cheers,

I got to meet Bud Anderson this past summer, and got him to autograph my copy of his book.

Great Guy! And some of his stories... wow!

When (notice not if) we get our P-51B, it will be a crying shame if its not "Old Crow" with the malcom hood.

Huh? always thought that if someday we get a P51B it would be Gentile's Shangri-La?

Is the most famous P51B, at least for me.

A couple of years ago? I went to the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends in Kissimmee, FL. Nearly every P-51 that is flyable was there along with almost any famous P-51 pilots you can think of that are still alive: Chuck Yeager, Robin Olds, Patillo brothers, etc. P-51 formations were flying around all day long, and parked ones literally covered the runways. On the other side of the airfield, a B-17 was giving rides. What a great day. I love the sound of a Merlin

Right on Ram it should be Gentiles or Godfreys P-51B, the most famous wingies in the P-51B.
