Just curious... Is there just the option between the two sized maps (thinking MA... and the smaller old maps vs the larger Pizza map), or is it possible to get something in-between?

Make a 512 map and dont use all of it?

IIRC all terrains are 512x512, the "map size" setting is only for the clipboard map.

Isn't the Pizza map much larger (double the size?) than the maps built before it? Pretty sure....

I'm wondering if you just have those two choices, or if it's possible to have an MA map that's somewhere in the middle.

I think the Pizza map is quite well thought out, and that the bashing of it stems almost entirely on its scale... something you can't really blame the AKs for as HTC wanted to test the waters with a larger map.

The smaller maps are gettin' too small for the numbers flying lately... and as far as a map on the scale of the Pizza map, I just don't think we're there yet. Somewhere in-between seems right to me, but I don't know if that's an option.

Hello Nash :)

Like Innominate said "Make a 512 map and dont use all of it?

The largest map available to be built in the terrain editor has always been 512 X 512 miles.

There are no restrictions to the size you can build up to the max. of 512 X 512.

The clipboard maps can be set as 512, 256, 128 or 64 miles squared.

Here is the Rumble map, 1st picture is in the 64 scale, the 2nd is in the 512 scale.  The land mass in the game hasn't changed.

You are right about this pizza terrain being larger, most of the other ones where being built for 256 X 256 miles.
BUT! this map hasn't doubled in size, it has actually quadrupled in size.
256 X 256 = 65,536 sq miles
512 X 512 = 262,144 sq miles
a 400% increase
it may have been better to size a terrain at 320 X 320 mile which would have been a 25% increase.
