When it comes down to it
No matter what people say
Computer exist for one reason
Games.

Everything else is just a usefull side effect.

I own a computer because programming is the only way you can build something without dealing with heavy stuff, or buying supplies.

Forgot to mention my favorite use.  Goggle search.  If I run across a subject I am not familiar with, or just want to know more about something.  Bingo. Hit the button. You literally have a library at your finger tips. Practical stuff also.  I found an old S&S carb at a swap meet. Did a quick search.  Found a compleat downloadable manual, with jetting charts; the works.

I use Printmaster Gold to lay out note card designs of my etchings, then print samples (using card stock) on the printer....test the cards with local  gift shop retailers to see how they do, and if they do well, have 'em printed on an offset press...then try to sell 'em.

Aces High is a great game to relax with.  When you see me here I'm taking a break.:D

As a graphic designer I end up sittin in front of one of these from 9 to 5 (though it's a Mac). After work, I usually come home and fly AH or I go down to the recording studio I share with my band. There, we built a Pro Tools system... and since I'm the only one who knows how to work a computer I end up in front of it doing alla the recording/editing.

The only TV I watch is basically the West Wing, Sopranos, hockey and football... so if I'm at home, I'm mostly on this thing.

It's pretty sad. :D

But... lets see... AH, Google research (just looking up stuff), Kazaa downloading movies or old TV episodes (Band of Brothers, Sopranos), Salon, Email, homework.

Controlling aircraft ... so those 200 plane stacks over SFO or O'hare all get down without "bumping" into one another.
Controlling banking ... so your atm works (most of the time).
Designing systems and hardware ... "to go where no man has gone before" ... MilStar, The Blue Cube.

Oh sorry that was before I retired.

Now, outside of the three games I play, I just keep up with events ... just in case someone decides to "make me an offer I can't refuse.
