How about a nighttime bombing arena for one week?  Make some really large cities to whack, English vs Jerry, what what?

I'm sure I'm not the first person to ask.  Might be fun to try.

Oh, I bet you are. ;-)

I'd love to be able to do nightfighters but AH does not handle night well.  No plane based radar, big bright icons, nothing stops my opponenent for gama cheats and so forth.  In short, I think you would find the arena very empty...

Cheats?  I understand nada enchilada on this.  Cold you clarify?  Thanks!

Couldn't the Icons reasonably be used as radar substitutes?  Ground radar would identify targets in area, then you'd have to find them.  No?

Also, it could rotate between Daylight Heavy raids using 17s and escorts ot night raids (on a 3 hours to 1 basis or some such).  Thus could be a "Heavy bombing CT" not simply nighttime.

The Gamma Cheat: The image you see at night or when you black out is produced by adjusting the brightness of the pixel set, the signal image is still there but the gamma has been turned very low.  Some video cards and monitors allow you to fiddle with the gamma value for purposes of color correction.  Turn the gamma up and the image is again viewable.  The result is that you are flying blind but your opponent might be able to see as well as if it is "day."

I will give you that the icons might reasonably be used as a substitute for plane based radar.  I don't gamma cheat so when I do fly at night I'm chasing icons.  Good point.  On the other hand the target also has the exact same radar...

Another hope for AH I have is that the alpha (transparancy) of icons might one day be adjustable based on range and lighting conditions.

(All above opinions are those of a player who is pro-Icon but anti-dayglow-Icon.)

Are you saying there are guys who never black out because of this cheat?  That's like flying AW RR.  Boy does that blow.

We can always hope as to the rest.

I think curently it would not go over well, many people have a magor issue with night: They cant see chit. I for have no issue with it it looks good on my sys., but sadly this is not true for everyone, perhaps after the new vershion we can have a workable Night set up that works better on more peoples systems.

Rgr that Brady, it looks extremely cool on my system, but then, I got lucky and all my stuff works tolerably well.

Hey, thanks for all your hard work.  Anything I can ever do to help?

Well, it usually turns night in AH just about when the sun starts shining into my monitor and you can imagine how that looks... ;)

Actually, I like night flying, BUT, I honestly can't see crap. I can chase icons ok of course, but getting a gun solution on them black things vs black background is a whole different story.

And landing, during night, it would be oh so helpful to have them landing lights installed and working.
