Hi Guys!

Your right J.A.B., this post was also pointless...so nevermind...I had fun. Guess I was misinformed then on it being a "what if".

I ment Norway not Normandy.

Hawk.
It was not a what if scenario, and it wasn't Normandy. It was Norway, and the Royal Navy did raid Norway in 1944 with CV based F6F's and F4U's, I believe the name was Operation Anvil.
Another thing the Axis squads, were not overwhelmed with F4U's. We had the planes to do the job the FW-190A5, and A8 when flown properly are a match for the F4U1, and F6F5. Throw in the fact the lack of teamwork in the 27th Sentai, not once did we put together an effective sortie, but thats just seems to be the way the 27th Sentai operates, we fly half assed, and then whine about it later.
I got an idea for a what if scenario............. What if the 27th Sentai all showed up, flew as a team, and didnt cry on the BBS?
That seems to be beyond our reach. In my opinion, the setup was one we should have kicked butt on, and if we failed to do so, it's OUR FAULT NOT THE CT STAFF'S. Your so busy pissing and moaning you don't even know where you flew .......DAMNIT

The Fleet Air Arm was in action off the coast of Norway in early 1944, for Op Tungsten - the attack on the Battleship Tirpitz in Kaa Fjord, and then later in 1944 for enemy shipping attacks off of coastal Norway.  This was not a fantasy setup, and I appreciated the fact that we actually had a week of FAA action in the CT.

It should be noted however that the FAA Sqns flew the Corsair II (F4u-1D) during this time, not the birdcage, but hey, bent wings are bent wings in my book.  :)

Chanter,

Glad you boys in the FAA got a real life setup with your squad's primary ride (or close to it).  Had fun fighting you guys last week.   The 27th Sentai, like 880, waits a long time between setups that feature it's a/c.   Always a pleasure to tangle or fly wing with you guys.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some business to attend to.

Half-arsed or not, sir... 27 Sentai has not "always flown that way".

Actions are being put in place to see that the malady you report, is cured once and for all. ;)

>S< Lowe and the 325th Checker Tails...  I'm looking forward to our first 'historical' meeting.  (the one where you whup my arse good for being a snot nosed adult)
