SA and Tactics: Prime skills

This is the biggest case of "well, duh" I've ever seen.   It's obvious that if you engage only from a position of advantage and never let yourself get in a position of disadvantage that you will be more "successful."  Whether or not that's fun or your goal is the question.  It sure isn't for me.  The big furballs and classic 1 v 1 or 2 v 2s (which I always seem to lose) are the draw for me.

Which, if you have read any tactical treatise of WWII air combat, is the essence of it.

By the way, when flying the SBD, you are often at the tactical disadvantage. The ultimate secret of success in this case is being able to reverse circumstances. That is best experienced rather than described. ;)

You have forgotten one of the most decisive factors in air combat situations. LUCK.

Luck = Not finding yourself alone and at an altitude disadvantage in the same sector as Leviathn.
