I`ve been wondering about this too. I`ve tried diving escapes while wepping the P47 and been caught by the N1K2 many times-something seems odd to me.

The N1K2 is roughly equivalent to the Fw190 in weight.

It has a 2000hp engine, and accelerates like a bat out of hell, especially down low.

To me, they are one of the most dangerous aircraft in the game to BnZ, because they hide E extremely well.

Verm, my sentiments exactly.  But if you have a good wingman, or wingmen, they are like any other plane in regards to tactics in defeating it(them, if more than 1).

N1K2-J Shiden-Kai: The main landing gear units of the N1K1-J gave constant trouble in service, and in mid-1943 Kawanishi decided to undertake a
considerable revision of the Shiden In order to simplify the main landing gear units and thereby remove the Shidenis most troublesome feature.

In order to allow the incorporation of shorter main landing gear units that would require no further shortening as they retracted, the wing was moved from
the mid/low-set posItion to the low-set position, and at the same time a considerable revision of the fuselage structure and tall unit was undertaken to
create the N1K2-J Shlden-Kai, which ultimately retained from the N1K1-J little more than the powerplant and the wing including Its four-cannon armament.

The first of eight N1K2-J prototypes made Its maiden flight in December 1943 and revealed an excellent combination of performance, handling and
reliabIlity. The Imperial Japanese navy air force ordered the type into production for service as the Navy Fighter Shiden-Kai Model 21 that had the N1K1-Jbls NK9H Homare21 radial engine and wing, the latter complete with four leadlng-edge cannon and provision for two 551lb {250 kg) bombs.

The N1K2-J entered service in July 1944, and production totaled 415 aircraft: 393 of these aircraft were delivered from two Kawanishi facilities, but so important did the type become in the closing stages of the Pacific War {1941-45) of World War II {1939-45) that It was ordered Into production at Aichi.

Mitsubishi, Showa and the naval air arsenals at Hiro, Koza and Omura that in 1945 delivered only 1.9. 1. 1, 0 and 10 aircraft respectively.

The N1K2-J differed from the N1K1-J in details such as Its length of 30ft 8 in (9.345m), height of 12 ft 0 In (3.96 m), empty weight of 5,8581b (2657 kg),
normal take-off weight of 8,818 lb (4000 kg), maxImum take-off weight of 10,714 lb {4860 kg), maximum level speed of 321 kt {369 mph; 594 km/h) at 18,375 ft {5600 m), cruising speed of 200 kt {230 mph; 370 km/h) at 9,845 ft {3000 m), maximum range of 1 ,293 nm {1 ,488 miles; 2395 km) with drop tank. Typical range of 926 nm {1 ,066 miles; 1716 km) with Intemal fuei, climb to 19,685 ft {6000 m) in 7 minutes 22 seconds, and service ceiling of 35,300 ft
{10760 m).

Included In the N1K2-J production total were a number of fighter-bombers with underwing provision for four 551lb {250 kg) bombs, and also a comparatIvely small number of ~§hiden-~ advanced trainers with tandem two-seat accommodation under a lengthened canopy.
There were several other variants of the N1K2-J, but none of these achieved production status. The N1K3-J, of Which two prototypes were completed, was
designed to remedy the fact that In the N1K2-J the center of gravity was too far aft, and therefore had a lengthened forward fuselage that located the Homare 21 radial engine some 6 in {0.15 m) farther forward and in the process provided volume for the Installation of two 0.5121n {13.2 in) Type 3 machine guns.

The N1K4-J. of which two prototypes were completed. had the uprated powerplant of one NK9H-S Homare 23 radial engine rated at 2,000 hp {1491 kW) for take-off and 1,570 hp (1170.5 kW) at 22,475ft {6850 m). The N1K4-A, of Which a single prototype was completed, was the carrlerbomeequivalent
of the N1K4.J. One other variant, which did not reach even the prototype stage, was the N1K4-J with a powerplant of one Mitsublshi MK9A {Ha-43) 11 radial piston engine rated at 2,200 hp {1640 kW) for take-off and 1 ,800 hp {1342 kW) at 26,245 ft {8000 m).

When diving, i'd figure that P47 would escape from N1K2..
P47 lots of weight and crazy engine
