The bottom line is, whether she's famous or not, is that she's a first-time offender and if she gets a light sentence that's probably the reason.
My sister, who's done plenty of stupid things in the past (and who is not famous), stole merchandise from a store she worked for over a period of time. She was caught, convicted of a C-Felony, and the end result was a fine and plenty of community service - not to mention the fact that she was allowed to file to have the felony expunged from her record after she completed here sentence. She did, and it was. First time - non famous offender.
Oregon vs California, the laws may be different, who knows - but if it ends up that Rider doesn't get the electric chair, it's not necessarily a conspiracy.
Then again, the judge could be a big fan, and will let her off for an autographed 8x10.
