Will the party stay together or will a majority of the current Dems(east coast and west coast) move to the greenies?

Why would a majority of Democrats move to a fringe party?  There's still a roughly 50-50 partisan split between Democrats and Republicans in this country, and there's no reason to believe this will change due to one single election.

He heeeee, but the green party is the only place for the real liberals still calling themselves democrats.  The Dems will have to reinvent the party for it to survive.  The current democrat party is way out of step.  There are no new or even old ideas within the party.  They currently only whine about what the Reps propose.  Why would anyone vote for the whining.  They have to have ideas in order to stay alive!

This was just one election.  The Democrats are still the 2nd most powerful party in the nation.  Splitting up into seperate parties would not help and they know it.  Things could easily swap around by the next election.  The 1994 election was probably worse for Dems (long term)  than this one was.

This election demonstrated the lack of ideas in the Dems.  Now if they chose a west coast lefty to lead the Dems in the House where will the remainder of the Dems who would call themselves moderates find a voice?  Won't someone who may run for pres in '04 have to stand up and define the Dems positions on a whole host of issues?  Isn't now the time for them, the iron is hot and I think someone should standup and strike while it is hot!

Otherwise I feel the party will only slip into strife and public battles that will only dimish its positions.
