Read some past posts... Funked and I generally agree on Raider weaknesses.

There are plenty.

Still, it's good to see the Raiders go into someone else's house on a Monday night and school 'em. Especially after losing four straight.

I've been a fan for about thirty years. They've spent most of those thirty years being a suckass team. It's good to see them win.

There, I said it.

Ah, well, heres a rare breed, one willing to admit the emperor has no clothes when he sees him walk, rare in todays sports.

I remember visiting Raiders boards when they had Jeff George...Jeff could do no wrong (sounds familiar with the cheerleading of an avg. QB named Gannon)...of course I *told* the raider fans what the truth was, but they would have nothing of it!  Naturally, after each season that George played, I reviewed his stats with the Raider fans, only to get "STFU" :) Gee, I wonder why?  Why can an avg. football fan like I see no talent, but they see LOTS of talent? Hmmmm.. :)

Gannon is shaping up the same way...he's slightly above avg. and not much better.  There are better QB's in the league today.  Like I said, if they make it to the AFC Championship game, it will be because of a good WR corp and a solid defense.

George has great talent and no heart.

On the other hand... Stabler had great heart and less talent. Same goes for Gannon.

George was INT prone...think Gannon led the league last year or year before? (Memory is fading)...

Stabler:never paid much attention then..except he talked like a girl.

For what it's worth, George's one full year as a starter with the Raiders, he had 29 TDs, and only 9 picks. George almost always had stats on his side. But he was a head case, and a pain in the ass. Like Sandman said, no heart, aka tinman syndrome.

It wasn't just interceptions... If George was losing, he played like it. Tantrums and counter accusations rather than stepping up and leading.

If the field was tilted his way, George was absolutely awesome. If not... well, you know what happened.

Rip, Gannon went to the Pro Bowl the last two years, and nobody has a better QB rating 1999-present.  His peers don't think he's average, and his stats say he's one of the top QB's in the league.  But I'll trust your educated assessment.

George's problem was that he was a loser, period.  He had fabulous stats with the Raiders (check out 1997), but he didn't do the "little things" that help you win games.  If the line was blocking and the recievers were open, he looked great.  But if guys were covered and he got pressured, he didn't have secondary skills to fall back on, like running for first downs and being able to throw on the move.  He got sacked a lot and he fumbled a lot.  He didn't throw too many INT's but he sure knew how to throw them at the worst possible time.

He was injury prone too.  1998 he missed most of the season due to injury, and even when he did play he was very limited.  The Raiders had enough of him so they dumped him after 1998.

He was a lot better than Marijuanivich or Vince Evans though, which is why Raider fans were excited about him for a while.

Well, the Seahawks will trade you all their Number 1 draft picks in the last 20 years for all your "has-been" QB's.  I think the Seahawk francise leads the NFL in "worse #1 picks" in the draft catagory.

Yeah, it is...
I bashed myself silly on sports boards for 5 years...I'm retired now.  Except when I find someone defending this weeks Raider QB, then the temptation is  there ;)
