Just to let people know that today is rememberance sunday in UK,
so please take a short moment to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of 500,000 British and Commonwealth service personell
who gave their lives in WW11, and the 1,500,000 in WW1.

Many of these were brave airmen, who kept the skys safe in Europe,Asia, Africa and Pacific.

Rememberance Day in UK also commemorates the servicemen who gave the ultimate sacrifice in wars and conflicts since 1945.
Korea,Falklands,Gulf,Balkans,Northern Ireland just to name the most known.

WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THEM

I am an American, and I will never forget the time I was in Jasper National park in Canada, I was on a tram heading up to this Beautifull motentop, the Man in the car was tellling about this and that, and said to uss all, and behind you is the Victoria Cross range, each peak is named for a man who receaved the Victoria Cross While in the service of our Country, my Girl Friend looked at me and asked what was that, I told hear those men wone the highest possable award for Valor in battle that their goverment could award and more often than not it was postimious, and that their contribuation to the war effort is often over looked and it is a shame, The Canadians landed at D Day with the US and Briton in Normandy, and faught in all theaters of WW2.

At that point I became very self aware as I realised the whole freaking car was listing to me tell her this, everyone was very quiet for the rest of trip to the top, they were mostly Europens in the car, it was turest seasion.

The US observes Veterans Day on the 11th as well. This monday is their day so that we can recognise the sacrifices that our fighting men made throughout all of our countries history.

Odd coincidence. I stayed up most of last night reading "Stalingrad" by Antony Beevor.

Talk about being stuck between a madman and a hard (cold) place. Didn't matter which side you were on.

We in Australia allso commemorate Remembrance Day on the 11th of the 11th.

to all who served, past present and future, we owe you our freedom, thankyou.

They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condem.
At the going down of the
sun and in the morning
We will remember them

Gscholz the "axis" had many fine soldiers and vets who fought bravely for thier nation BUT at the time this was for governments that had little interest in "Freedom". I dont think there is "slight" intended.

All who fought and fought well. Lets make sure we never have to have conflict on such a scale ever again.

It isn't a matter of leaving out the Axis troops. This several countries that have made Nov 11 of each year to remember those who have served their countries. Nothing is stopping Germany, Italy or other countries of remembering. The US and the UK and the Commonweath had chosen this date to remember those who have served. IN the United States, we have two such dates. May we honor those who have given their lifes in service of out Nation through out out short history from 1775 to today. And Nov 11th we remember all the Vererans who have served out Nation. But we try to remember, some of us more than other. To my friends and comards I have served with that have died in Peace and the Battlefield.

CC Firbal. I'd like to dedicate this post to Sgt. Tonstad who fell in combat two weeks before we rotated out of Bosnia. A family man and general good-guy. Peace upon his memory.
