Maybe you can clear something up for me, because now I'm confused.  Wasn't it George W. Bush's (a Republican president)administration that went to the United Nations and succeeded in enacting a tough new resolution demanding full access for international weapons inspectors in Iraq?

Wasn't part of that unanimously passed resolution the establishment of a one week deadline for Iraq to accept its conditions without reservation?

Didn't Iraq just accept it?  We don't know if it's with or without reservations yet, but I'm guessing there will be absolutely no tolerance for game playing on Iraq's part.

So what you've basically just stated is that the Bush administration is stupid.  I don't see how I could read it any other way.  As for the burying the Democratic party part... well, too bad I'm not a Democrat.

Udie... speaking as a conservative... this is a good thing. Whether or not we agree about the effectiveness of inspectors, or whether or not Saddam will comply, we have pushed him in the right direction. Argue whether or not he will comply perhaps, by why attack liberals about it? Everyone got what they wanted, except perhaps the extreme ends, and they probably should never totally have their way anyhow.

i like how he had the iraqi "parliament" reject the offer first then he got to come and say "no, no, let's be nice- calm down, ok i'm a good guy we'll accept it."

I posted a few months ago this was all about political saber rattling, while some said "You got your war!".  I hate it when I'm right. :)

Deja is right though, its all rhetoric until the inspectors report back.

Saddam could teach a few NFL coaches a thing or 2 about time management and how to run a proper "screen" play. He's got them down to a science.

Eventually we will still have to whack him. But...we have to go about it the proper way. The proper way being to go through the international community, force him to accept a resolution. We know from his track record that he is not going to follow the guidelines set forth by the resolution. When he breaks the agreement, we will have ample reason to whack him. The people who run this country aren't stupid Udie. Of course we could have just taken him out...at the cost of being ostracized by even some long time allies. This way we have political ammunition when the time comes.
