Watched 7 75mm shels bounch off an M8 at point blank range
« on: November 12, 2002, 10:32:01 PM »
Yup, i hit a M8 with 7 75mm shels at point blak range while he moving across my gun, ya his side was to me, they just bounced off i hit him in the front the the side the front side the back side the turet, man I am about LIVID, nothing hapened, they all richoed off, now it has been my experance that the 75mm Gun on the LVT A4 does this often, why is that?, is it me or what?

I know I should of used the 50cal it is way better at killing armor, but I was out of ammo for it:(

BTW why are their no HEAT rounds for the LVT A4, I have asked this before but no response.

The LVTA4 round is lower velocity then the Panzer, which itself bounces off M8's occasionally (especially the HE ammo).

Use your main gun, and it will die quickly (1x.50cal).

Since the 75mm in the LVT is a howitzer, its fusing system may require the projectile to travel a certain distance (actually the number of rotations of the shell is used) before it is armed.  Depending on exactly what you mean by "point blank", it may not have been far enough to allow enough revolutions.

Just a thought.

Ya that Clasic WW2 malfunction, well you are having problems because U nead a super computer to run the game:)..LOL Thanks Raub:)

The howitzer shell did not have a fuze like you are describing m8t, I could scan a pic of the Fuze on that round, but my scaner is down.

Anyway miniour tempertantrium, over it now, or at least till some other porked armor model issue makes me freak out:)
