just caught the tail end of a program....

about an ancient burial ground for warriors that was discovered RIGHT UNDERNEATH a baseball field at one of the American bases here in England!.
For years you guys were batting balls over their graves! It was very strange to see a shot of the baseball field shaped archeological dig with USAAF personel walking around it at work.They found swords and broaches among the many bones.Dont you think its uncanny that the warriors were under a totally modern airfield of warriors?
The problem is i didnt catch the name or whereabouts of the base!      :( I got the impression it was found a few years ago but i cant be certain of it, maybe its a new discovery?

Anyway i thought you yanks might like this strange story.Who knows perhaps this was a base used in WW2? maybe those very same warriors were with your airmen in spirit?
I kinda like to think they were.

<S>

p.s. if anyone knows the base or more info please post stuff about it.

just found info on the BBC website! 160 graves! 1400 years old!

 http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ancient/archaeology/warrior_1.shtml

check it out    :)

Very cool hazed  :cool:

To bad they couldnt let them dead warriors rest, im sure they earned those graves with great honor  :(

Unless they were some of the prisoners that were forced to fight the front lines of some of the great battles of the old times.. in that case they were pissed to be dead

I didn't see the programme but if my history is correct then there were some finds at Mildenhall many years ago, perhaps it's the same place.

Additionally when I worked at RAF North Luffenham, they found an old Saxon settlement there too.

Hazed, not necessarily being nitpicky but when was the "USAAF" digging? The USAAF became the USAF in 1947.

Cheers
