I have to admit, I didn’t know about Johnny Barnes. Went to Google and search, “Johnny Barnes Bermuda”.
From insider.com “One of our friendliest Insiders, Johnny Barnes, may very likely be more forgiving. He has become Bermuda's literal poster-man of good wishes and blessings and can be found between 5 and 10 AM at the Crow Lane entrance to the City of Hamilton. Standing on his chosen patch of grass on the roundabout every day except Sunday, rain or shine, he waves, blows kisses and greets pedestrians and motorists alike, his "I love you" rising over the hum of traffic.
But don't err in thinking Johnny is a six-pack shy of a full case. A local television interview with him a few years back by one of this book's coauthors, revealed a smart, likeable and deeply religious man who genuinely cares about people. A former train and bus mechanic, he has claimed his spot at the Crow Lane spot for 15 years (there is now a statue of Johnny at the entrance to the city) and has also been interviewed for German television. Now that's some distance for a good reputation to travel.”
Thanks for the photos!
