Light Show
« on: November 20, 2002, 03:21:33 AM »
Hey!  :D

I just installed new mobo and cpu.  Have a geforce4 Ti4600 card.  When I bring up clipboard sometimes it looks like an old ELO lightshow.  Rays of colors shoot different directions from clipboard across the screen.  Anyone splain that?  What could I do to correct the situation.

Thanks
Hajo

What drivers you using Hajo?  Generally, the 30.82 drivers from NVidia are a bit more stable than the 40.xx drivers.  Some of the 40.xx drivers blow away textures randomly.

Also, you might try this;  NOTE:  this is not for everyone.

In the video7.cfg file is an option called FastVertexProcessing.  Try flipping it from the default (it's either 0 or 1) to the other value and see if that helps.
You can edit the file with Notepad to make the change.  If it makes it worse, then just re-edit and change the value back.

Skuzzy thanks.  Using the 30.82 drivers already.  One thing I did do was check BIOS.  Since I replaced mobo  I didn't check BIOS.  When I checked BIOS , it stated I had PCI video selected instead of AGP....whotta dummy eh?  I hope that was it.

vid cards

Only if you have a PCI vid card installed-otherwise when no PCI vid card is detected, the BIOS will default to the AGP setting.

SOunds like flaky drivers to me. All I could suggest would be ye olde driver reinstall.....and I may be paranoid but I always reinstall Directx when updating vid drivers.
