Weird death at CT.
« on: November 19, 2002, 11:04:22 PM »
I was visiting my friends place and decided to install AH on his puter.

Plugged in old QuichShot stick with autofire and all(LOL). It was little jerky but ok.
After some practice at MA I decided to go to CT and try my skills as japs.

I wanted to try how long I could stay alive and flew with extreme care.
Well...after 4 or so nice and landed sorties with some kills I get this weird insta death.
Luckily? I happened to record it all.

I was about 10-15k over CV. (you can see ack firing low below me.)
Turned SW toward low dots, checked my 6 and BLAM! my engine bursts into flames.

There was absolutely no one firing at me.  This really takes away fun of careful flying for me,
just get blown up without seeing any reason for it.

Could you be so kind and check this film. What hit me???

Thanks for CT.

illo.
I would almost bet it was fleet ack that got you. I've been flying along at what I thought was a safe distance from it before, and BAM. I'm as dead as VonRichtoffen.

Hi, Löwe!

Did you check the film?(Its only 48kb) Bugging thing is that explosion clouds are way over 5000feet below me. Also isnt it very unrealistic that ack tracks individual manuevering fighters at 15k? And more so if it directly hits them.

When I get my new vid card ill be able to get my own account up (illo) and fly from home. I like flying 1 life/tod style...(well not in place like MA) So its good to know these things.

I will spend much time in CT...i hope. :)
MA is only for practice. CT for fun.

Thanks, illo

In this set up the 5inch guns are manable, so a Human gunner probably got you. Was someone awarded the kill?

I always get an "Invalid or Old Format "message after opening downloaded films....why?

Nope..no kill awarded, I think it can be seen in the film. Considering distance to the CV any hits from there would be VERY VERY unlikely.

Maybe it was only a bug or some corrupt packets in the traffic.

Or otherwise we have Ki61 engine unrealiability modeled. :)

My ki.61 had its wing blown off last night by long range fleet ack.

Pretty ridiculous I think.

I was killed by CV ack twice last night at altitudes of 18 to 20K.  Doesn't seem right.
