The basic idea of the bombsight works well. What it needs is a fuzz factor. You should calibrate, get your calibration, and as long as your actual speed is within plus or minus three to five mph off(also, altitude plus or minus 200feet), the calibration will be perfect. This way you still need a good calibration, but as long as you get one you can be assured of hitting what you aimed for. As long as your plane is flying level, and your speed is within a fairly narrow gap, the calibration would be precise, as in the old system(Though it would effectivly only show a small change from the calibrated sight) When the plane is outside the proper speed envelop, or banking, the bombsight would revert to it's purely calibrated state.
Also needed is a digital(The analog speedometer's resolution is WAY too low to judge even a 10mph change of speed accuratly)
These two changes combined, would allow bombers to make multiple pass bombing runs in a reasonable amount of time, with good accuracy. It would NOT be a return to the old style laser bombing, since you still need to keep your speed stable, and because a turn that is too steep will loose your drones, and slow you down dramaticly, forcing you to fix your speed. A second pass will still take a significant amount of time, and turning drops won't be possible. Another major change made to buffs, which on it's own would have eliminated most turning drops, is the reduction of the turn rate from the bombsight, this is significant, and seems to often be forgotten, as combined with the formations it severely reduces the bombers ability to turn around.
With the above changes, bombers would now be able to hit fields with reasonable effectivness, but without thier "pork the whole field in one pass" style bombing from pre 1.10. Larger more important strat targets could even make the bombers worthless for that, provided the strat targets have an immediate, global, and noticable effect on the war. Possibly even change goal of the war to focus on strategic bombing, instead of airfield capture.
