Saitek Cyborg - XP help PLEASE
« on: November 11, 2002, 04:18:37 PM »
I can't get Windows to recognize my Cyborg GOLD USB stick...or when it does...it won't appear in CP's.

I have installed the latest Saitek NT 28032 drivers.

This has happened before and the problem seems to go away for no rhyme or reason. Anybody got a clue for help?

and yes...I know the Cyborg isn;t supposed to be compatible with XP Home

Thanks

DmdMax

When I plug in the Cyborg, Device Manager assigns it to Human Interface devices rather than game controllers...any workaround?

Probably teaching you to "Suck eggs" but.......

I assume you began the drivers install before plugging in the stick? If you connect the Saitek even for a nanosecond before the install program tells you to it will not work correctly. This was a big enough problem for saitek to include a program on the installation CD called "nukeusb" which would completely remove the saitek drivers (And others - beware).

Hope this helps (co's I may have this pain to come soon)

all i can say is, i have the cyborg 3d gold, windows xp pro, and to get my stick to run,

is have no other usb devices attached to my hub, and then repeatedly disconnect the stick from the usb hub and reconnect until it finally gets picked up correctly by windows., . .. often switching ports on the hub helps speed this process for some bizaro reason, and usually it takes 4 or 5 attempts.  But after that it works fine, and i love my stick.

Hi DMAX,
 Me again...... :D

OK despite the horror stories above I decided to go the XP Route...... After setting up the new system and installing a fresh copy of XP I proceeded to download all the Critical Updates etc.... (140mb on 56k  ).

Then installed a Logitech Wingman Force GP FF Wheel (Latest Drivers), installed great. Then came the Cyborg, and.......

Installed great, No problems, 1st time, all is well with the world etc, etc. I even imported W98 Profiles into the new profile editor, Again no problems.. Calibrated and setup in AH. Wheel pedals for Rudder, Stick for everything else and "Mouselook" set on "View Yaw".

So, The Cyborg definately does work with XP.  I even moved it between different USB ports,,, again it recognised it instantly.
Did you install the "Magic Mouse & Magic Keyboard" drivers? Even if you do not have these the drivers are required by the Saitek Software.

Other than that run NukeUSB (Again)..... and start over. It definately does work but you need to install everything in the package not just the stick software.
