Did you know that I have to make do with a poxy dry ski slope because god was unkind enough not to include suitable mountains when he built this place?

Pity me and my leet snowboarding skills which have never had the chance to run free on snow, as god intended, when you're up there rolling around in that stuff. :D

I wonder if the snow cat on that run is named "Knob Polisher"?

man I knew that wasn't going to go unnoticed !

lol

I almost avoided putting the text on the pic altogether...

mrfish. I just posted the earlier pic (taken from 3 miles away) so the whole mountain could be seen.. even then it didn't fit :)

there is so much terrain here (and almost no lift lines once past the bottom lift) that you could ski all day and never take the same run twice and never get to ski them all...

I'll look up the acreage if anyone is interested.

Never been to Snowmass.  The mountains there dont look to big.  Do you guys have bowls, gladed skiing, any chutes?? From those pictures the mtns dont look very intimidating.

you know how pictures are.. they hardly ever portray how steep/large things are.

Snowmass has a 3000+ vertical drop.
longest run 7.x miles

the wall (top pic) is the steepest non-back-country terrain in Colorado.
(Highlands has the steepest bowls)

the headwall is pretty close in steepness.

I'll have to find the pictures from last year from up top.

tons of chutes, glades, bowls, you name it.

what you see in the pic is the part of the mountain the tourists generally start at.. I.E. the bunny hill/base.

Snowmass has 4 peaks (not including back country),
er.. have to run.. Town Manager needs help..

I'll pass on more info and pics tomorrow

notice my sig :)   it's my 'thing'

just a few composite shots..
should be self explanatory...

just to show there's plenty of variety.. from almost flat runs to almost vertical runs... hence:
I don't have any pics of the back bowls (yet)

Wonderful, now if I can only get the funds.  Not looking very promising, but we shall see.  Good lookin pics there. The original pics just made the mountains look small.  I guess because every other resort I have been to has been surrounded by huge peaks.  The town looks like its in a valley, kinda made the mountains look puny.  I need to find the ones I have of the trip I took to Whistler in Jan. of last year.  Man thats one hell of a resort, those boys up in B.C. got it good.
