typhoon was notorious for compressability problems yet in AH it has none.

n1k2, 205, 109s a6m5s and many others still dont either

What?! All planes suffer compressibility effects in Aces High. Typhoon locks up at Mach 0.82.

Are you seriously saying that the Typhoon etc, don't have ANY compression effects modelled?

Because I have tested all the planes mentioned and found all of them to suffer from the compression "lock-up" as modelled in Aces High.

Unless you mean something totally different by "compressability" that I'm not aware of.

what most aircraft suffer from is simply dynmaic pressure from the airspeed on the control surfaces making them very stiff and hard to move.

The only birds that actually have compression effects right now are the P38 and the P47. All the others are sipmly the dynamic pressure from moving through the air at high speed

Funkedup posted a novella about the difference between compression and dynamic pressure, and can explain it much better than I can. Do a search on the name funked in this board and the gameplay/feedback board, then select threads he has posted to w/ compression topics.

Implemented in 1.03 was the "compression" effect. ALL planes had this effect applied. The effect is IDENTICAL on all planes.

The difference in the case of the P-47D-30 and P-38L is that they are equipped with dive flaps which restore some elevator control and allow for an easier recovery.

I see it says only added compressability to the P38. I see nothing about it being added to all birds at this time. I kind of have the impression that 38 will be the testbed for compression before it's fully implemented across the board.

And the dive flaps on the 38 do not restore elevator control. They are there to move the center of lift forward to prevent the 'mach tuck' dive the P38 goes into when it compresses.

I think only the 2 planes with dive recovery flaps(P38L, P47D-30) have compressibility modeled, ironically making them worse divers than the other planes.
