I highly doubt that, unles they are interested in a "fixer-upper". :)

that is certainly an interesting thought about spare parts..I go both ways on that..I need a kidney, but don't know how I'd feel about carving a clone to save my own life. or rather, having someone born JUST to supply another. now if they found a way to clone just an organ and grow it in a jar or something, that would be ok.

Whats wrong with spare parts?

I recently tore my ACL in my knee.  Prior to the reconstruction, they gave me the option of having an autograft or an allograft.  An allograft is an ACL from a cadaver... a spare part.

I chose the autograft anyway

Through genetic engineering and cloning research we may soon be able to grow spare parts for your particular body in a pig or other similarly sized animal.

Pigs with human hearts..... now there's irony for ya.

I don't think this should have been done.

Given what has happened to cloned mammals so far I think this is extremely cruel to these children.

I think they called it "pithing" with frogs long ago in biology class. Basically cuts nerve endings to the brain so that the subject feels nothing, but everything works. Heart goes? One right there, guaranteed not to be rejected. Liver? Party as much as you want! Get a new one!

So now we are discussing possible "rights" of these clones? Mega-can o' worms.

Do the pro-lifers think it would be immoral to "abort" a clone while it's in a test tube, what about non clone test tube babies.?

In the scenario I described above, the clone would not have any higher brain faculty, that is, he would be a functioning turnip.

In any case, I would use the thesis, "First come, first served"

;)

OK. Lazs, my post was a cheap jibe, relevant to the subject at hand. Yours was just irrelevant.

Carry on at what you're good at, kid.
