Gas/brake pedals as rudder?
« on: November 24, 2002, 05:46:21 PM »
Just went out recently and bought a racing whell/pedal set for the computer (Microsoft Precision Racing Wheel).  Im trying to get the gas and brake pedals to work for the rudder, but I cant seem to convince the profiler to let me use the pedals for rudder and the joystick for everything else - the game wants to use the wheel for everything.

Ideas?

The problem is each pedal is an independent axis. So if it worked you could only map one pedal as the rudder and even then the resting point would not be center.

Hi Saurdauker,
Not sure if your wheel handles AH differently (Vulcans comments make me think it might not - my wheel sees pedals as a single axis, perhaps you can progam yours to be the same). Anyway go here, This is how I did it (Saitek Cyborg & Logitech Wingman Formula Force Wheel).

Let me know if it works. I know others who have done it this way.

I do it the other way around.  My CH USB pro pedals function as gas and brake pedals in driving games.  Works great.

Of course I drive with a joystick, which kinda sucks.  Are there any good wheels out there without pedals included?

I use the gas/brake pedals from a MS Sidewinder stearing wheel  as rudders along with the TM FLCS/TQS joystick.

Go to "Setup" then "Joystick" then "Select Joystick."  In the joystick window, select your joystick by clicking on it.  Then click the "Set all Input" button, and "Set all Buttons" button.  Now all your inputs and buttons will be set for your joystick.

Next select the rudder from the window under AH Control.  Then select your wheel controler in the joystick window.  Then move your pedals to watch the Joystick Input window to see what axis is moving.  It is the Y axis for mine.  Then select this axis.  Click the "Select Input" button below.  Click OK to return to the Joystick Window.

From the Joystick Window, select the rudder from the drop down box.  Press the pedals and watch the movement on the graph.  If it moves backwards, click the "Invert Axis" box above.

That should do it... nothing to it :)
