We have a Aussie Rules football player playing here in the USA. He plays for San Diego Chargers. He's the kicker because:
1) He is not Fast enough
2) He is not Strong enough

to play a regular position. He is a tough muther though..I'll give him that. After punting he looks to tear sombody's head off...not your regular punter.
Most rugby/rugby league/aussie rules players have to blend all 3 strengths without being absurdly extreme in one area. This is because we don't have the ability to swap our entire teams at will, and the players must be able to survive a solid virtually uninterrupted 80 mins of play with only a 10 min break in the middle. Its a common tactic against teams with heavy forward packs to boot the ball down the other end of the field to try and tire them out.
I'd like to see how American football teams held up if it was a non-stop 80 minute game, with 1 break in it, and the team changed the same bar bloodbins and only a few reserve swaps allowed.
