A Twist to the Aces High Championship Shootout :
« on: December 02, 2002, 08:27:16 PM »
As it sits, the Aces High Championship Shootout could bring in some new players and promote interest.

But, as others have pointed out, many folks will realize that they stand no chance of winning (due to lack of time spent online, lack of interest in score, or whatever).

So here's a twist on Pyro's rules:

Top 5 or 10 ranked players get the cash awards that Pyro mentioned (and are excluded from the following).

The next 5 or 10 awards are lottery based, with higher rank INCREASING a players chance of winning.

Eligibility could begin somewhere between the 50th and 75th ranking percentile.
*******************************************

Example; (Top 5 get cash award, 50th + percentle enter lottery, 6,010 players in a given Tour)

Player ranked #6 earns 3,000 "lottery tickets", player ranked #3,006 earns 1 "lottery ticket", (and so on in-between).  A computer draws 10 virtual tickets  from the 4.5 million or so tickets available.  Player #6 stands a 1 in 150 chance of winning one of the 10 cash prizes.

1/2 of everyone stands a chance of winning, and score does matter for those ranked in the top 50% (whether they like it or not!  :) ).
