i ripped out my cheap industrial carpet and refinished my hardwood floors a few months back.
they're beautiful california golden oak but as she runs across the floor it sharpens her claws like crazy now and my arms look like i had a fight with a barbed-wire fence man....!

oh - and ps, once you get into school there are a lot of little grants you can get that aren't obvious til you get there- usually available through the dept of your major. they used to post little notices in the P & A department office, once i got $250 for a little solar robot project and another time i got $1200 to help with a telephone project the police were doing (nothing interesting of course). also many campuses have on-campus jobs that pay ok and they're often flexible as far as hours go, you can work for the campus cops processing parking tix, or stocking the library or serving coffee or something.
- you can get paid to grade homework too if you are good at listening to the professor drone on about what he/she/it expects of you. the point is there's lots of little ways to be a student and get $$$ just be creative.
