Looking for Volunteer Trainers
« on: December 09, 2002, 11:40:17 PM »
I'm going to be redundant and post this several places.

I have posted a page where those willing to volunteer their time can provide some information.  It is located at:

http://www.netaces.org/ahtrainers/trainer.html

Information recieved through this page will then be posted onto a page where people looking for training can go and find someone with the skills and time slots they are looking for.  An example of that page is located at:

http://www.netaces.org/ahtrainers/training.html

My plan is to collect volunteer's info for a couple of weeks and then open the training request page around the 4th of January.

Until then, I welcome any suggestions to make this a successful venture for the AH community.

I would *LOVE* to help out with maybe a 'Basic Event 101' course?

While we are introducing people how to survive in the main arena, introduce them to the wondeful world of events?

Hmmm.  Wasn't this supposed to already be available "officially"?  What happened to that?

Great idea.

I have one suggestion, and that is to break the training down into skill levels.  For example, training for somebody who is new to flight sims would have to be completely different than for somebody who's been around for a while, but has some specific things they'd like to improve upon.  The trainers would likewise need to have different skill level minimums.  So allow somebody to sign up for beginner, intermediate, or advanced training in any of the subjects, or perhaps classify the subject based upon skill level.  You could have people who train basic ACM (or whatever you want to call it) for newbies, and have intermediate classes for say E-retention, and the advanced pilots could sign up for advanced topics like Turn-fighting in a P-38.

That seems a bit unwieldy though, so I think I prefer allowing the trainer and the trainees to select their level of competency so they can match their skill levels.

Sorry Aub, that was just a quick "punt" on the way out the door to work.  Actually, I like the idea of developing courses with specific goals.  And an intro to special events is a great idea.  I wish I could fly weekends so I could participate!
