CV Damage indicator??
« on: December 09, 2002, 10:19:23 AM »
This has been asked before, but I can't find anything that indicates what the answer is.

HiTech, is there any plans to update the damage models on the CVs and other large boats?

My primary concern for asking this time is due to having the CV sunk just before I landed on it.

I was coming in on final approach and all looked good on the CV. No fires, no smoke, no trailing oil slick, no listing to one side.. heck, that CV looked like it was just put to sea.

Anyhow, I was about 30 seconds to touch down and the AAA lit up the sky. I look up to see a lone spitfire diving in. As he is coming down, he shoots off his rockets and scores a couple hits. Instantly, the entire boat goes nose in and starts sinking into the deep blue, forcing me to abort landing and look elsewhere for a landing area.

Anyway, It would be nice to be able to check the status of a CV to see if it is about to sink or is up to full strength. Maybe just a % damage indicator on the "SHIPS" window that comes up when you want to take control of a boat.

Obviously, I wouldn't have tried to land on the boat had I known it was ready to go under at any second.

Thanks :)

Smoke maybe?

Sorta like an airplane with three colors, white, grey, black.

Light white wispy smoke  for light damage.

Gray, a bit thicker for med damage.

Thick Black smoke for a nearly sunk CV.

Then you could wave off in time, I'd think.

Just an idea.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

This idea seems simple anf effective.  Maybe make the last stage the same as the second stage but with fire.

I check CV dammage by going to the strat section under the map screen and finding the CV your looking to use..

When clicked it will give its city status just like every other airfield...

The City % is the structual strength of the carrier......

Hope this helps...

I'd still prefer to see smoke
